ShaqlLet's play "Can You Spot the Hypocrisy?" - Liam Neeson on the gender pay gap in Hollywood
If one agrees that there is gender-based pay inequality, then one of two things are correct:
1) Women are underpaid
2) Men are overpaid
Mr. Neeson isn't willing to accept that #2 is the reason for the inequality.
Does that make him a hypocrite or just an asshole? You be the judge!

MagicHorseI do not know if it's correct, but I heard that they were both represented by the same agency. However, the agent usually goes to the actress or actor with a contract & it is up to them to agree & sign it, or not & negotiate other terms. If she wasn't ok with it, she shouldn't have agreed. However, she runs the risk of the film company dismissing her & hiring a different actress.

RightwireI saw a story the other day outlining this. Apparently there is a new movie with Mark Wahlberg and a female co-star. He was paid $1.5M for a re-shoot to replace Kevin Spacey, she was paid $1,000. Both were noted as "A List" celebrities.
Gotta be honest, I'm quite familiar with Wahlberg, but had NO idea who the female co-star was. I don't recall ever seeing her before.
It was noted that both claimed to have received no pay at all for the re-shoot and both did it simply to save the film.
Fake News? SO hard to tell these days what is real and what isn't.

From what I've read, I see no reason to question Wahlberg being paid $1.5M, as repoted. The actress, Michelle Williams, is accomplished, having 4 Oscar nominations. HOWEVER, according to
this article Williams contract stated she was required by her contract to do any necessary reshoots. Wahlberg's contract did not have that requirement, so he/his agent was able to negotiate pay for the reshoots. Bottom line is, Wahlberg is a top box-office-draw, and thus can get contracts that compensate him as such. Williams, while a notable actress, doesn't put butts in the seat and thus can't get the same contracts Wahlberg can.
