Somebody either has to get paid less for women to be paid more, or customers have to pay more for the product, thus meaning they have less.

True, in as far as more money for female actresses has to come from somewhere, but that still doesn't make it hypocrisy. He may not be being economically realistic, but that isn't the same as hypocrisy.

I suppose that supporting actor roles should pay about the same. The movie’s ticket sales aren’t driven by the entire cast. As much as I dislike Liam Neeson, he’s proven that he can carry a movie. If I asked you to name 10 men who star in movies, chances are you wouldn’t think of Neeson, but the Taken franchise has made a lot of money. After Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Lawrence, and maybe Sandra Bullock, how many women can put butts in theatre seats?

One of my best friends is involved with someone who works closely with Liam Neeson and goes on and on about how well he treats his employers. He's in the entourage.

I finally had to tell him one day that at one time, I enjoyed his acting, but I lost all respect for him over his hypocritical shit-spew about guns when he made most of his wealth out of shoot-em-up movies. I told him the guy represents so much of what's wrong with Hollywood for me that he simply disgusts me. My friend sheepishly acknowledged my complaints, and then I reminded him that he was drinking at that trough. We don't talk about Liam anymore.

The only good thing is that this nonsense is now spilling over to Hollywood.

Just saw the previews of his latest flick. He just does the same thing over and over. Fallen quite a distance from Schindlers List.
I wont spend a dime to see anything he is in.

regular actors and actresses get paid standard rate, right since they're all union members.

If your a star and getting paid less, then I see the problem as your agent. It's not like your agent is colluding with the director to pay you less. The more you get paid, the more the agent gets paid.

This is such an incredibly stupid debate/discussion. Human nature and economics are going to drive this issue in a capitalistic model, and no amount of meddling by nitwits is going to ever change that. Evidence of that reality....
