A year from yesterday, the path of a full solar eclipse will cross the US from Texas to Maine. Way more impressive than the "hybrid" eclipse happening this month on the 20th, and some of you won't even have to travel to see it. The last time a total eclipse passed over the US was August 2017. If you miss 2024 it will be a 20 year wait for the next one, and it will be visible only in Montana and the Dakotas. Are you lucky enough to be front row center for this spectacular celestial event?

I saw the last one, and it’s hard to believe it’s been almost 7 years already. It’s worth going to some effort to see. Hard to describe, but I found it to be awe inspiring.

The county where I work, here in the Texas Hill Country, is directly in the path of totality, and there are periodic meetings in the local government preparing for the event due to expectations of a large influx of viewers. I'm planning on being retired by that time, so I'm hoping I'll be one of the many. I've never personally experienced totality, but I've been through two annulars, which were still pretty neato. Cloudless clear skies to y'all fellow viewers! Retired Texas Lawman

Apparently there are almost no vacant hotel rooms here for that night. A year from now….

I saw the last one in Cuba, MO. It was awesome to say the least. Gonna take the whole family back home to Texas for this one. Success always occurs in private, and failure in full view. Complacency sucks…

I took the family to the the 2017 one. We drove about 250 miles to get to see it in Southern Illinois. We lucked out and had beautiful weather and the whole family agreed it was well worth the trip, even my teenagers who don't like anything. We'll be heading to Bloomington IN next year to see the 2024 eclipse.

I just booked a home northwest of Jonesboro, AR. I drove to Lander, Wyoming for the last one. That is a beautiful area.

Mistake Not... |
THIS. And I had to visit my mother in law AND take a drive home that was over twice what it would normally take due to traffic volume on I-5 to experience it. Totally worth it. We're just north of the path, maybe 30-50 miles...I imagine it will be pretty impressive. We could also go visit my parents in Ohio...they're in the direct path.

Thanks for the heads up! We may try to catch a cruise for it. Or visit friends in Austin. Or something, but I don't want to miss it.

This! My sons and I drove down to Knoxville for the last one and all I can say is, if you have the means to see this first-hand, do it! JP

Knowing is Half the Battle |
My hometown of Warshington, Missourah was in totality and we made it down there to see it with my parents the last time. We have friends in Illinois we hope to stay with and then see it somewhere outside of Carbondale, IL, which had totality also for 2017. It will be on a Monday during the school year, I'm planning on kids missing school that day, it's only 4 minutes long, but completely worth it. MANY people from Iowa traveled down to Missouri in 2017. They estimated Montana quadrupled in population or something that day from all those that traveled there. Traffic immediately after it is CRAZY because you have gobs of people jamming into a path that is only 100 or so miles wide.
