Maybe because aliens don't exist except in fiction.

To me, this is no different than our desire to put men on the moon.

It’s exploration.

The amount of cynicism that I read on the internet boggles the mind. Like minded people don’t seem to agree on much. But, space exploration used to be something we all could agree on. It was something we could all gather around and support.

I think we’ve just become too “educated” and polarized that this is a simple pleasure we take for granted.

Some people are born explorers/nomads.

Horse lords and hill-people have this trait!

Bad news - we are also sending them a roadmap to come conquer an inferior civilization.

Its a V-trap.

I'm not a believer, so my problem with the program would be if it was taxpayer funded.

I'm not saying life doesn't exist, but even if it did, our signals would be very weak. Not just that, but any intelligent being receiving them would be receiving them in the distant future.

I'm guessing also that the information would be gibberish due to these intelligent beings not having the proper equipment to receive and/or decipher the transmission.

Again, if this is private money, I'm not against this.
