Neat idea for grease disposal
I don’t have much grease to dispose of, so I just pour it into an empty jar or milk carton. But for folks that have a lot of it…

“A savvy mother has revealed a clever trick for disposing of hot grease - without spilling a single drop down the drain.

The anonymous woman, believed to be from Australia, posted to a cleaning group on Facebook and told how she stuffed a sheet of tinfoil into the bottom of her sink, ensuring it fully covered the drain pipe.

She then poured the hot grease she had left over from cooking into the foil and waited until it had hardened, before folding the sheet over and throwing it in the bin.”

Serious about crackers.

If I'm browning meat, I wrap the colander in foil and let the grease drain into the foil. Like the article, once it sets up I throw it away.

If any grease/fat escapes my stomach I usually just scrape the cast iron pan into the trash bin before rinsing it off in the sink. Bacon grease doesn't get thrown away, that's just throwing away money. I use it to cook eggs and anything else that needs searing. I have quite a bit so I've been making candles.

Suet. I pour it into a pie tin over an appropriate amount of birdseed, harden in the fridge, & put it out for the birds. Usually doesn't last an hour.

I used to always mess with pouring it into a container while hot. A friends wife told me to just leave it in the pan until it sets up and scrape it out. Why the hell I didn't think of that, I'll never know.

I let it cool a little and pour it into a old peanut butter jar.
Doesn't stink up the inside garbage.

We keep an empty can in the freezer. Pour used cooking oil in it too. I like the bacon grease over birdseed idea, but my dog would like that idea too.

My wife pours it into an empty plastic ice cream container/lid and freezes it. Come trash day she puts it out into the dumpster still frozen.

Pour excess into an empty tin can and put in fridge to harden it up. Mom taught me this trick when I was young; she said they did this as a recycling measure for the war effort—something about glycerin needed for munitions manufacturing or something like that. Wink

Wait...Bacon-scented candles?

I'd drown in my own saliva.

I use a small styrofoam bowl with mixed bird seed.

First I reheat what we have saved up in a pan, add in some peanut butter from a huge jar that got buried in the pantry until it was out of date, and some plain corn meal for thickener (seems to help). I make 4 to 6 at a time usually. The result fits in one of those hanging suit feeder cages. I save them up and put them out mostly in cold weather because I have read that is when they most need them for the extra energy.

Endeavor to persevere.

I'm probably doing it wrong. It doesn't really emit much odor. I render the bacon on a medium heat that doesn't really burn the grease or have any burned particles that would be further burned in the candle. I melt a little paraffin with the fat so I will solidify when it cools.
