It's quite simple; bite-sized chunks are easier to read. Ever see those wall o' text posts? It's pretty easy to lose your place in such posts, isn't it?

Here's an example: https://sigforum.com/eve/forum...0601935/m/5630046484

Remove the breaks and you'll get the idea. I'm sorry if this style aggravates the OCD of some of you guys, but, I just want my posts to be clear. Also, you will see me use italics and bolded text, not just for literary emphasis, but to make words stand out on the page.

BTW, I know some of you guys subscribe to my posts and I must look like a yutz when you get the notification, because I am a horrible typist. I will bang out the post and only after it's up will I edit my typing errors.

Here, let's see- unedited:

The quic bron fox jumped over the lazy dog

She sels seashells by te sashore

Am I fonna have to choke a citch?

Bytter late thanever

I woud like to feed your fingertips to th wolverines

You'e barking up teh wrongtee

You get the idea. My typing sucks

I appreciate it, trust me.
Punctuation is important and when you have the "Wall O' Text" here in this forum or other places, it's maddening to me. Maybe the person typing thinks it's fine but I find it irritating.
I also picture the person who does this as having a sub par education. That or they never paid attention in school. Maybe both.
2 thumbs up from me.

I'd rather be hated for who I am than loved for who I'm not.

Good Lord I'm so happy to read that!

I do the same damn thing and had thought I must be a senile old goat with that practice (and we're talking multiple edits with hopes they are all finally made before the post reflects that irritating "edited by xxx at xyz").

Nice to know I'm truly not alone! Big Grin

The wall-o-text will get scrolled past by me every time. There's a good deal of cut and paste of long editorials here. I would prefer people would cut and paste a pertinent paragraph or two from the article and then provide the link if it interests someone enough to read the entire thing.

Paragraph breaks are you're friend and Para among others here use them frequently and well.

Never noticed it. I do notice the corrections, but I do the same. It's easier to write it, post, then read, then edit. Most posting I do is from my phone so it gets hard to proofread and make sure what words came out of autocorrect are the actual words I intended.

They’ll have to pry the double space from my cold dead hand. Same holds true for Courier 12.
Me, too. Had a year (2 semesters) of typing in high school and those habits are difficult to break. (Not wedded to Courier 12 font, though.) I also type 2 hyphens for an em dash.

WTF ... Really. I would think common sense would dictate same as such. Spoken as a four decade retiree cop writing numerous reports for court.

Keep doing what you're doing.
I hate trying to read run on sentences and a mile long paragraph.

"Post Now". So much to consider before clicking that innocent looking icon.

I've often wondered if the moderators can see how often I edit a post after clicking that little icon.

Thanks for posting that way Para. It's very helpful vs reading a wall or wave of text.

I’m all for your style here Para

I basically skip wall-o-text posts these days anymore, they’re exhausting to try to read through.

They figure they should say, "At that that point in time, the male suspect exited the motor vehicle and attempted to egress the scene rapidly on foot in a westerly direction on Main Street," when "The suspect got out of the car and attempted to escape by running west on Main" is so much better.

That was exactly her point. Stop trying to be a DA and or Lawyer and be a cop. It took a while and probably a number of red pens for my reports to clean up. In time I learned the lesson.

I have to admit...if I see posts that seem to be one, long, drawn out sentence or paragraph, I pass on by.

It takes too much effort for me to try to read it.

I very much appreciate the way you break up your posts. Walls of text with no paragraphs are impossible to read, and when I see them, I usually won’t even read them.

At least when you have a long post, it’s exactly that, a long post. It’s not a wall of endless letters that you can get lost in like the Fire Swamp.
