Finnegan and Dixie were the two foxes I had seen that got me following them years ago.

Mikayla was the founder and was apparently bullied to the point of taking her own life.

That is very sad.

Finnigan fox is the one that really impressed me with her organization. Very sad that she took her own life.

Bullied over what? If you're going to post this here, some detail and context is needed.

Seems there were serious mental illness issues, so to what degree or form this harassment took (real or imagined) would be kind of hard to say.

That’s a bummer, loved those foxes.

Popular fox rescue YouTuber Mikayla Raines has died by suicide after experiencing online bullying, her husband said. In an emotional video shared via the SaveAFox Rescue's YouTube channel on Monday, June 23, Raines' husband, Ethan, claimed the Minnesota-based fox rescue founder had been dealing with "ridiculous claims and rumors" being spread about her online for a "few years," including from rival animal sanctuaries. "And being the sensitive human that she was, Mikayla took it all to heart," Ethan said. According to Ethan, Raines "ended her life" a "couple [of] days ago" amid more "rude words, accusations and name-calling" shared online by people "she considered close friends." Ethan, who noted that Raines struggled with autism, depression and borderline personality disorder, said his wife's borderline personality disorder caused "emotional instability as well as impulsive behaviors." Following the recent criticism, he said that Raines "felt as if the entire world had turned against her." "She couldn't bear what she was feeling any longer and she ended her life," Ethan said. "It breaks my heart that someone who is selfless and devoted her life to animals could have so much negativity pointed at her." He continued, "And to those of you that pushed her to this, every one of you that had been responsible for making her feel this way, I wish you had to see me find her and I wish you had to watch me perform CPR on her for 15 minutes until the first responders arrived. And I wish you had to watch helplessly as paramedics attempted to revive her lifeless body. And I wish you had to hear the screams and the cries of her family."

"I wish you understood what you were doing before you did it before it had to go this far and I wish you understood that words do have real and terrible consequences," Ethan said. Ethan concluded the video by sharing that he plans to continue his wife's mission with the rescue. "I will not let Mikayla's light be extinguished," he said. "I'm going to continue to push to rescue the remaining fur farm foxes and, after that, save as many animals as possible." "I love you, Mikayla. I will always love you so much and I miss you," he ended the video. Raines founded SaveAFox Rescue in 2017. The nonprofit organization amassed over 2 million followers on its YouTube channel and over 500,000 followers on Instagram. I understand that the man is heartbroken, but this effort to shame people- and the way he's going about it with his description of events- is, to me, unseemly and lacking in dignity. It just does not seem appropriate at all. I think this is symptomatic of our society today. I can't imagine reading something like this- posted for public consumption- even a few years ago.

From what I can find, she was on the autism spectrum.
And there were people that she had worked with in the animal rescue arena that turned on her.
I consider it crowd mentality.
I've seen this happen with parrot rescues where a group will just turn on another group.
Her husband had a duty to shield her from this.(as far as I'm concerned)
And the people that turned on her, I'm here to tell you that are probably proud of themselves.
They only revealed their tru soul.

And you will rarely hear about any of my rescue and placement activities.
If ever.

Well now what exactly might be the point of contention in the noble action of rescuing animals? I don't get it.

Monteen deals with this kind of behavior constantly. It's why she and I disagreed with social media.

I had no problem with beating back the bullies. It was just taxing to her.

Did they have the proper permits to be messing with foxes?

I have had foxes on all three of my places over the years and they seem to be able to take care of themselves.

Yes, I follow SaveAFox. I saw the video last night. I was very saddened by this news.

I wish all that this touched peace. Very terrible.

Yes, they had proper permits.

So places it's legal to have foxes as pets. Well they don't usually make good pets so that's were some of them came from, fur farm rescues and the such.

They didn't just do foxes, minks, Jackals, coyotes, they took in all different kinds of animals.

It is against the law to hurt them in VA. They do have fox hunting/chasing for the hounds.

Their nose and sense of smell is better than the best dog. The British tried to train them to find cadavers but the fox was always biting the handler.

Surely I can't be the only one here who doesn't understand what all the shaming and bullying and contention is about in these matters. Would someone be so kind as to explain, because for the life of me, I can't understand what's the problem.
