I got warned before flying to Tokyo to keep any and all medications over the counter or prescription, in their original containers.

Hah! My point was that airlines make a point of telling you over the intercoms that drinking alcohol/bringing your own booze isn’t allowed, but no one, internationally or otherwise, has ever pulled out the airline sized labeled Jameson bottle from my liquids bag and busted my chops about it. Pills should be a nonissue. Just be cool and no one will even ask, in my personal experience.

Were you flying into Narita? That airport has always had heightened security sensitvity due to local political unrest.

Domestic and international flyer, domestically never had my scripts questioned, kept them in a baggie in my kit bag, enough for the trip plus a day or two. Kept Claritin D and aspirin as well.

Internationally just dropped the pills in their original bottles in the suitcase, never questioned at customs...

They area looking for serious contraband, not a bottle of Rum, a few cigars, or your hemorrhoid cream..

Over the years have taken at least forty five fishing trips to Canada and have used a pill organizer or the bottles and never once asked about script drugs at the Border going both ways.Of course that doesn’t mean it couldn’t happen. And on a domestic flight also. Was once told if you use an organizer and are checked you may have to prove the script pills are legal by having them checked by a pharmacist. You could miss a flight.

If the identity of the pills needs to be verified by a pharmacist, how does the bottle help? You could load a bottle from cholesterol meds full of Valium. No one but a pharmacist would know the difference, right?

In the original container works for me. I've been everywhere man, never had a problem though at 70 I may not be suspicious.

Flying commercial can be a PITA, I do my part to reduce delays.

If that happens get a supervisor, or offer to take the viagra for them and prove that is what you have....

Bringing your own alcohol is allowed, but you may not serve yourself alcohol on a commercial flight. This is a federal aviation regulation (14 CFR 121.575), not something the airlines have dreamed up.

https://www.ecfr.gov/cgi-bin/t....3.121_1575&rgn=div8

If you consume alcohol on board, it must be served by the crew. The airline does not have discretion to do otherwise, and neither do you. The airline is prohibited from serving you if you appear intoxicated, have a weapon, or are a prisoner being escorted, or if you are escorting a prisoner. Otherwise, you're legal to possess it, but if you want to consume it, it must be served to you by a crew member.

If you are a crew member, you can serve yourself. Wink

No, it was Haneda. They had a nice elevated shooting platform with two guys with what I believe were MP5s on it as were coming in the airport to go home. It's something I'd never experienced before.

~psst~ Guess what, I never board a plane with no less than five nips of whiskey, and I always serve myself. Furthermore, I will continue to always serve myself because I do it discreetly and don't make a big deal about it because it's not a big deal. And yes, I'm aware of the regulations and couldn’t care less.

That's very nice for you, I'm sure. Thanks for sharing.

The question, of course, is about carrying medication on board, and several have opined that they're getting away with something by carrying alcohol. They're not. It's legal.

What you're doing is not, and clearly you know it. And you want us to know it, too. Not relevant, but again, thanks for sharing. Perhaps you'd care to share illegal drug use on board, too? Would that be relevant?

It's legal to carry over the counter and prescription medication on board. It's legal to carry alcohol on board. It's even legal to carry e-cigarettes on board. It's legal to take the medication. It's not legal to use the e-cigarette or consume the alcohol yourself. Not sure why you feel the need to insist in illegal activity and to ensure everyone knows you have done it and will do it, but this is the second thread you've made a point to ensure everyone knows. Congratulations.

Never had a problem flying with meds. Both Domestically and internationally although on international flights I usually bring the original case with my info. Domestically I just bring what I need in a smaller unmarked container.

. I ment if you were using an organizer you would have to have a pharmacist verify the pills.
