YouTube yes. But, I ran into a computer expert at church last night who shared they can set up a PC to browse without ads and without cookies and without tracking. So, I may pay her to set up my computer. ------- Trying to simplify my life...

No. I switched to using Brave for my browsing needs some time ago; one very nice benefit is its ability to block all of those annoying ads without need for an additional ad blocker. Perfect for YouTube. Only downside is that it isn't available for Xbox, which I sometimes will use to surf the web or watch YT when I need that break after the young folk pound into me the realization of just how bad I am at gaming these days. :really sad face: -MG

What are you guys, a bunch of commies? (I kid, I kid.) But really, it costs time and money to develop software, and time and a lot more money to operate services. Sure, there are some people who will spend their own time and money to develop apps or run relatively inexpensive-to-run services out of the goodness of their hearts. Most people want to be paid for their work and the cost of making/providing their product. They can get paid by advertisers to show ads to their users or they can get paid by their users. How else are they going to get paid?

I don't mind ads...gives me time to get up and take a piss. The thing that absolutely torques the fecal matter outta my lower colon is when I'm streaming a game, for instance Nashville Predators on Balley Sports Network, and the commercial comes on BLARING at 14 phu**ing million decibels! I thought there was an FCC regulation about that... "If you’re a leader, you lead the way. Not just on the easy ones; you take the tough ones too…” – MAJ Richard D. Winters (1918-2011), E Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne "Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil... Therefore, as tongues of fire lick up straw and as dry grass sinks down in the flames, so their roots will decay and their flowers blow away like dust; for they have rejected the law of the Lord Almighty and spurned the word of the Holy One of Israel." - Isaiah 5:20,24

I'm not paying extra to not see commercials. There is an upside, maybe once a month I actually see something I am interested in, a local event or new product for sale. Online the web surfer has it built in, over 500,000 links and malware avoided in the last year. The advertising programmers are learning to get around it, and the auto start video always did. For the most part that is how good products do get faster recognition. Waiting for word of mouth on social media to do it all would be the kiss of death for some.
