From what I've read, a ceramic coating is applied to the entire car. It's main purpose is to make it easier to clean. Any dust and dirt will just roll off with a simple rinse and leaves no water spots. It doesn't offer meaningful protections against rock chips.

Nice! What's not to love?

I had a miata (and the GR86) on my candidate list for awhile but I figured it's not very practical for me. I still look at ads for miata but the list for me is new Camry SE AWD, new Tesla Y AWD or used Ridgeline Black. I can't decide and it's driving me crazy.

I’ve always called that British Racing Green. Smile

It's a whispered secret among British sports car restorers that the Mazda green is the closest to the original Triumph or MG BRG

Just give me a light, simple, fun to drive car with an open top, a cool sunny morning with some twisty roads, and I am happy.

With Hwy 1 so close, happiness is never too far away

I never warmed up to the NC. It feels heavier and less elegant. The current ND is excellent, but it no longer has that friendly face all the previous iterations possessed. Every time I walk up to mine, she looks like a giant gold fish smiling at me

The NC just got too heavy, but the ND corrected that.

The ND really isn't as friendly. more of an Angry Bird vibe

You're right, ceramic coating is a spray on coating and isn't for rock protection. But it is great for protection from water spots and bird droppings

I had my '23 Stingray ceramic coated a year ago. Since then, I have not washed it. All it needs is an occasional dusting. It's hydrophobic. Dirt (except bird poop) doesn't stick. When it gets wet in the rain, a microfiber towel cleans it up.

Miata certainly scores very low on Practicality. Fortunately, I have a super practical GE8 Fit with a 5MT serving as my MSV(Miata Support Vehicle). Wink
