Prevent ice from sliding off. If you're goin' through hell, keep on going. Don't slow down. If you're scared don't show it. You might get out before the devil even knows you're there. NRA ENDOWMENT LIFE MEMBER

Snow/Ice breakers When the snow and ice begin to melt and slide off it breaks them up so huge chunks don’t land on folks. ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. Do they keep large slabs of snow/ice from sliding off that roof when melting? ________________________________________ -- Fear is the mind-killer. They are for the mechanical gargoyles, not the eggs. The mechanical ones have a spring that needs to be wound with a key. They can hide in the daytime, but the keys remain exposed.

Frangas non Flectes |
I’ve seen ice sheets slip from roofs that weren’t equipped with them in early spring that would easily kill a person if they were standing under them. I’ve also seen it happen on a college dorm building that was so equipped and it was neat to watch the whole thing break apart in chunks as it did so. Important fixture in certain parts of the country. ______________________________________________ Carthago delenda est

I'm betting they either have something to do with ice and snow or, ripping someone a new asshole. If a Sailor or Marine didn't install them, probably has to do with the ice/snow theory. Here in the Yoop, if you park too close to a building with a metal roof, the ice can slide off and trash your ride. The local Pizza Hut had a "beware of falling ice" sign on the door. Which was only readable while you were standing under the ice. End of Earth: 2 Miles Upper Peninsula: 4 Miles

I used to stop at the Wawa outside Philly every night hauling FedEx Air freight. Young man came over top the rows of coffee pots with a fresh pot in hand. Slammed two of them together and they broke, giving me a full lower body coffee bath. Glad I had clean clothes on board.
