The driver may have been trying to save a tiny bit of time by not having to fill out a form/take a photo, etc., but she needs to be called out on it so it doesn't keep happening (since, if she's done it to you, she's almost certainly done it to others). Report it to Amazon and they will most likely retrain (or possibly fire) her.
This is my thought as well. I've seen that they have to take a photo showing the package 'delivered' if no one answers the door (except around here they're usually back in the truck before you can even get to the door).
I agree with this. Years ago they started using a company called LaserShip a lot in this area. They were always delivering late so I kept hassling Amazon about them and eventually they went away. Historically Amazon has been pretty responsive to customer feedback.

zoom6zoomAmazon just placed an order for 20000 Mercedes delivery vehicles. Sometime in the future you may not have the option of a different carrier.

parabellumI don't really care who delivers my packages, just as long as they don't lie.

Let me put it this way- if this happens again, I am going to breathe thunder on whichever manager at Amazon is unfortunate enough to take my call. I realize that this is not Amazon's doing, but they can damn sure put the brakes on this crap.
You should do this already. This just happened to me and I let them have it. It's unacceptable

Dusty78I’ve had the same thing happen to me with the USPS. I wait at home all day for a package and then I receive an update that says “delivery attempted no one at home” or something of that nature. Meanwhile I was sitting home all day and my doorbell never rang. One time I was waiting for a package and the mail truck pulls up to my building, no one gets out and it drives away. I follow them to their next stop and get my package. On the tracking it said “mail delivery not completed due impassable driveway” or something of that nature. There was a quarter inch of snow dusting on the ground. It was completely ridiculous.

sigcrazy7Totally agree with Para on this one. The dishonesty sucks. If a package is stolen, it can be resolved easily when dealing with honest people working in good faith. If the delivery driver is a liar, it will cause nothing but trouble when you do have an issue. That driver will lie simply to protect her position, and now you’ve got an uphill fight with Amazon.

CromI agree that the statement is simply false and should be reported. It may seem like a minor thing, but there is potential for abuse lurking.

AckksThe lie would bother me as well. I've seen them list something similar on my account and thought it was strange. They may just hit whatever option they see first as they are running back to their vehicles in a rush to get to the next location.

Well, that's exactly what I did. I just finished a refreshingly candid conversation with a US-based manager at Amazon. They're gonna check with the liar and see what she has to say for herself. It does appear that the issue is the taking of a photo of a package when it's placed on a doorstep or wherever. Plain old laziness.
The manager did say that these people are independent contractors and that there have been complaints such as mine, and that this is entirely unacceptable behavior. She also said that if a pattern of this type is identified, the driver will be kicked to the curb.

Salty DawgI have had a handful of Amazon packages delivered recently by folks other than the common carriers where the driver has called my cell and asked me to come meet them at the end of the driveway because they are afraid of the golden retriever laying in the yard (invisible fence). I can understand that some folks are afraid of dogs, but I've never had an issue with this from UPS, FedEx, or USPS so it's become an annoyance. I wonder why it's not an issue for the others.

Last Christmas a package of mine was stolen. Amazon tracker said "handed to customer", which it assuredly was not, because it was delivered to an apartment with a locked vestibule. I checked all around to see if it was misdelivered, but no luck.
Amazon refunded me so I could reorder and this time I followed the GPS tracker that was under the "tracking" option of my account and I literally drove up to the van and took my replacement package from the driver's hands.
Yes, the tracking did say "handed to resident".

cparktdThey don't want any interaction with the customer... that cost them precious time... drop and run, but that doesn't explain your situation. They are likely just selecting a comment from a list, maybe they, in a rush, hit the wrong selection. It will be interesting to see if it happens again.
Once I had a signature required package, UPS driver dropped it on the porch and ran... I heard him and ran out to catch him and asked about the required signature. He said, no problem I got it. He had already signed my name on his electronic tablet thingy himself.

Endeavor to persevere. September 25, 2018, 08:05 PM
46and2I've noticed this trend over the last handful of years from all carriers. I've experienced it from FedEx more than any other, myself. They almost never even knock anymore.
I think all of the companies are pressuring drivers for better stats and the drivers are cutting corners as a result because they're overloaded/overworked.
The dishonesty is definitely bullshit, but I'm pretty sure it's an industry-wide systemic problem and unlikely to change in any real sense.

Jimbo JonesI totally agree.
I have had such poor service with their "carriers" that I told Amazon that I dont want them using their providers any more. The worst was when I was at work and got an email that they attempted delivery but no one was there. Total lie. They never bothered to attempt delivery and should have just left the package as no signature was required. The customer service person I called told me that these are all third party vendors which explains the inconsistent service. They wouldn't re-deliver to my home (more than a mile from original delivery point) and wouldnt redeliver until Monday (it was Friday) so I canceled the order.

I contacted Amazon, told them that Amazon Logistics was causing major problems for me, and I would cancel my Prime membership, ask for a refund, and cease doing business with Amazon if they insisted on using this delivery method for my orders.
Since then, I have placed maybe 15 or 20 orders with Amazon and they have all been delivered via FedEx, UPS, or Postal Service. No problems.

bubbatimeIn my neighborhood Facebook group, one person has a video of a driver delivering an amazon package, snapping a photo of said package on the porch, and then the driver steals the package and walks off with it.

reflex/deflex 64That delivery driver has more work to do than she can handle. Draw your own conclusions as to why.
I'd be willing to bet there is some metric involving her handing you a pkg vs. leaving it unsigned for. Perhaps as simple as it takes more time and that can be used as an explanation as to why she is not getting the job done.
I've spent a summer from hell in an understaffed DC. 2 hour delivery window? Hell, how about 3 days, maybe. Nobody even filling out job applications. She'll probably not get reprimanded, they were lucky she showed up that morning.

NuclearI just had a delivery by the Amazon delivery service a few minutes ago. The guy dropped the package off at my back door and waved at me sitting inside, because the back door to my house doesn't have a doorbell. To do this, he had to walk past the path to my front door and enter my fenced in backyard through an admittedly unlocked gate. I don't find this OK, and let Amazon know it.

FloydNCI've noticed just starting this summer, some of my Amazon orders started arriving in regular looking vehicles by people not in any uniform, never the same guy or girl twice. Some of the deliverers place box at door and then take pic with their cell phone of box.

they need to be immediately and uncerimoniously fired for blatanly lying, deceiving, or misrepresenting facts. lying to your employer about such a basic and important function of your job. what good is an employee if he lies to his boss or company. adios to all fucking liars.
