Amazon deliveries by Amazon and not a common carrier Login/Join

A couple of weeks ago, I rceived my first Amazon order which was not delivered to my home by common carrier. Instead, someone in a delivery van dropped the package on my porch. That's fine, except when I view the completed order online in my Amazon account, the blurb said "Your package was delivered. It was placed directly into the hands of a resident.

That's a lie, plain and simple. I saw the van drive up. I saw the woman get out. I saw her drop the package on my porch and then drive away. I opened the door after she was out of sight, and picked up my package.

I wonder why this was done. What benefit is there to the driver to make such a claim? I can see the potential for this hurting me, in the off chance that I have a package stolen from my front porch, after the delivery driver claims to have placed it into the hands of a resident. And beyond that, I loathe dishonesty.

My family gets a LOT of stuff from Amazon.

Some of it comes USPS, UPS, or FedEx.

A lot of it comes from "Amazon Logistics."

Amazon Logistics usually leaves the package on the front porch and the Amazon app pops up a picture of the package left on the porch right after the delivery is made.

They've been pretty reliable so far.

I've had much worse luck with UPS, especially. Stuff like packages getting scanned as delivered hours before they actually arrive, or age 18+, signature-required packages containing firearms or alcohol left on the porch without the delivery person even knocking on the door.

If you're worried about stuff disappearing off your front porch, you might consider looking at something like the Arlo camera. It's a little outdoor security camera that is battery-powered and connects to WiFi. You don't have to wire anything, you just pull it down and charge it about once a month. (It has a very low-power motion detector and only records and transmits video when it senses motion.)

No, I'm not worried about stuff disappearing from my porch. I'm concerned about the dishonesty of a delivery person causing me problems on the off chance that such a thing does happen.

Let me put it this way- if this happens again, I am going to breathe thunder on whichever manager at Amazon is unfortunate enough to take my call. I realize that this is not Amazon's doing, but they can damn sure put the brakes on this crap.

So with the Arlo camera, Para will have a few seconds of video of the person stealing his packages.

Then what? How does that solve his issue? The police aren’t going to chase down a package thief using video, and Para will still be out a package, as well as the cost of the Arlo camera.

Package theft is not the point I am making. I am referring to a false statement by an Amazon delivery person.

Once again, I am not concerned about package theft.

Is there someone at Amazon to take your call?

I’ve never been able to talk to anyone, only e-mail to, I assume, one or more humans of, as far as I can tell, a vastly different culture and language.

We get quite a bit of stuff from Amazon. In our case the only times they've shown that message is when they actually handed it to one of us.

Maybe it's a delivery menu option that was fat-fingered. Possibly it was a shady driver. It warrants keeping an eye on it, though.

para,

The driver may have been trying to save a tiny bit of time by not having to fill out a form/take a photo, etc., but she needs to be called out on it so it doesn't keep happening (since, if she's done it to you, she's almost certainly done it to others). Report it to Amazon and they will most likely retrain (or possibly fire) her.

Note that I do not use these. I am hearing impaired, so telephone is not a good option for me.

If I want a real-time dialog, I use the chat facility from their website.

If I don't need a dialog, I send an email.

Really? How are you trying to get a hold of them? You didn't get an email once from amazancustomerserve@gmail.com with a web link to follow did you? Razz

Not only do I talk to a real person every time I call them but they are almost always native English speakers. There are multiple ways to get a real person. You can go through the customer service portal on the website which provides a "call me back" option, or you can just type "Amazon customer service" into google and get this number 1-888-280-4331. I just googled it myself and then called it to verify that it still worked and was on the phone with a live person in under a minute. she said her name was April and her easy to understand midwestern accent seemed to verify that possibility.

I have had TERRIBLE service whenever an Amazon order was sent via Amazon Logistics. I was never able to get a straight, honest, to-the-point, answer to any query that I made to this "service."

I contacted Amazon, told them that Amazon Logistics was causing major problems for me, and I would cancel my Prime membership, ask for a refund, and cease doing business with Amazon if they insisted on using this delivery method for my orders.

Since then, I have placed maybe 15 or 20 orders with Amazon and they have all been delivered via FedEx, UPS, or Postal Service. No problems.

Recently in my area we are now starting to get deliveries from Amazon by OnTrac. They're terrible. Just look at their online reviews. They've earned their one star rating.

Recently had a Delivery via Amazon.

I was napping and heard a bang on the door and a truck take off. It sounded like someone threw something at the door. Thinking I'm just a grumpy old geezer I continued my nap.

Later I found a package I ordered wedged against the door. It was damaged.
I returned it and got a refund.

Amazon Logistics.

So that's what they call those creepy white vans that are up and down my street more than any resident's car?
Ya, I've seen them. They just toss it and go.

Evidently this is an issue Amazon has been concerned about for a few years.

Amazon Logistics has been horrible. I wonder if there is a box they have to check once a delivery is made and maybe they clicked the wrong box? Once I got the notification something was delivered and a picture of it next to a door. I called Amazon and said that’s not my door and to have the driver return to show me where. Nope. They just said can’t do that, here’s a refund.

But I want what I ordered!! The next day a neighbor brought it over.

This past week I’ve gotten Amazon packages for two different people on my street that I went and delivered.

This is my thought as well. I've seen that they have to take a photo showing the package 'delivered' if no one answers the door (except around here they're usually back in the truck before you can even get to the door).

It may be that I was attempting the contact as an Amazon supplier trying to get the product description page corrected. No human contact was offered.

I don’t recall attempting to contact them as a customer.
