How does this work when you have 100 items, ie you just went food shopping? The tiny area they give you to place your bagged items is big enough for 2 bags, not 12

None of this has been thought through.

I've never done self checkout with 100 items, but I have done it with 30 or 40, perhaps a bit more.

It's very simple, you fill up all the bags, and when you run out of room, you take a full bag and put it in your cart. I've taken as many as 8 or 10 bags off the checkout area and put them in my cart prior to finishing scanning and paying.

Nothing to it.

Local trend is to enlarge size of self service checkstands and to increase the number, Kroger and Meijer both offer the new enlarged versions capable of holding a family sized order.
