Best Christmas Tree Stand? Login/Join

Is there a Christmas tree stand that you don’t have to kill yourself screwing bolts into the trunk and trying to keep straight and level?

Didn’t there used to be a kind where you drilled a large deep hole right into the center of the trunk then it sat on a pin in the stand?

I need a stand for a real tree that I don’t have to curse out and struggle with to get right!

I have a stand for smaller trees (probably 8 footers or less) that rotates and pivots when unlocked by a foot pedal. You put in the tree, clamp it down, depress the pedal with your foot, move the tree to whatever position you wish, release the pedal, and it's now locked in place.

Now that we're getting bigger trees I can no longer use it, and we're stuck with the type you describe.

I purchased mine locally, but here it is on Amazon:

My neighbor has one of these, seems to handle his 8ft trees just fine.

This one! Mine is close to 20yrs old. Bought it from HD years ago. It’s been excellent. My yearly live tree is usually the 7-8ft size. As said it has a seperate base that screws to tree trunk. Then you place the tree with base on into the pivot base, main base. Level tree. Locks in and won’t go anywhere. You’ll never buy anything else.

Ladder stands are the easiest to get in and out of. However they can be time consuming to set up and you are limited to one place. I truly prefer the climbing stands from Summit. You can move it around as needed and adjust your height as you wish.

A couple strap or screw in hooks make a nice addition to hang a backpack or gun/bow. You're on the right track with real tree camo. Great stuff. Always remember to wear your fall protection! More hunters are hurt or killed falling from stands than any other way.

Good luck with your choice!

Seriously though, the Krinner Tree Genie is likely what you're looking for. The have a smaller version available as well. Though prices are... substantial. (Buy once, cry once?)

I do remember the "drill a hole" style mount that you are talking about. I seem to remember them being popular about 7-10 years ago. I only remember them being sold by the live cut tree farms. They would also drill a hole plumb for you as well.

Good luck!

EDIT
What you are looking for is a "Center Pin Tree Stand." Yenser's Tree Farm sells a version that looks very sturdy.

Black and Decker also sells a non-screw stand.

I have used one of these for many years: http://christmastreelotsupply....ristmas-tree-stands/

It's pretty simple, very sturdy, and easy to set up.

I like the post about ladder tree stands! Big Grin
Maybe its a hint to go hunting instead of the family rabble at home. Frown

The one we have and have been using for the last 5 or so years was kind of crudely made by maybe the tree farm. Or not. Its a piece of pipe, maybe 8" with the mandatory terrible to use screws. They welded a piece of steel to the bottom of the pipe to make it water tight, then nicely added a spike in the middle of the bottom.

For support it has a cross of "T" angle that sticks out maybe a foot on each side. Each of those has a big foot at the end out of a large washer. The whole welding project is nicely finished with some thick red paint sprayed on liberally. Who the hell sees the stand, anyway?

OK, and to feed the poor dead tree some water I found a device made from 3' of plastic tubing with a plastic funnel glued on the top. You stick the bottom of the tube in the pipe and pour from waist level into the funnel. It also works well for pouring fertilizer at the base of rose bushes. Its actually how it started life and I adapted it to the Christmas tree.

The only better watering system is a pump with a little hose that you use to fill the tree from outside its "drip ring".

Hadn't really considered age, but I bet I've had this same stand for about the same 20 years as rangeme.
