I speak about all those things with my friends, and sometimes the discussions are lively, but I would do most anything for them and them for me. These are people I have been friends with over 40 years.

And I am willing to wager that such discussion has kept the circle of friends to such a state as exists.

You need party games! I suggest the plastic bag challenge.

If a GDC really requires a safe space, I have found it useful to point out the virtually vacant area between their ears.

I'd simply let each of them know while being invited to the party that your home is a politics-free zone for that night. If they can't keep the conversations to other topics, please don't show up. If anyone breaks the rule during the party, give them one warning and politely ask them to stop. If they do it again, escort them out of the house. Seems simple enough.

I wish I could be there to support you. If nothing turns up for the wife and me, maybe I can bring some toys and have a cleaning party.

Some light reading for the high blood pressure corner? Maybe Guns and Ammo and American Rifleman?

Watch their head explode?

How about a few friends coming in late with their new firearms to share with a Show and Tell?

I'm less than 10 miles away if you need a back up. Should I bring the AR15 with a scope, The Delta Elite 10mm, the Kimber Cutom .45, Mossberg 500 pistol grip 12 guage with tacti-cool light or the suppressed nickel P226? Big Grin

You are a better man than I am. I wouldn't do it. Seriously.

I mean, how can you have a good time with a bunch of democrats? Even if you never discuss politics, you still know what is going on in their evil little brains.

I work with a vast majority of Dems and minorities. Mostly they all puppet what they have been told, they really don't have an opinion based on any know facts.
A long time ago I decided that reason was not a option, especially after Trump won the election.
I went full offense and stand your ground. If you start I will pin your ears back and not stop.
If they don't like it, they should shut-up and not get started on there belly aching.

Option B, Find new people to hang with, your present group can't possibly be your friends if they are that far left of your believes.I'm sure they laugh at you behind your back.

I'm at a point in my life where I just don't associate with LEE-BORE-ALS.

Life is too short, so why surround yourself with people that want to destroy your way of life?

My wife understands this, so its not really an issue for us. We have a group of conservative, pro-gun, friends - if we need to hang out with anyone, its them.

I'm sure they do too. It's expected. But the way I see it, as long as they are not actively trying to kill me, it's irrelevant. And that's what probably irks them worse. According to them, "I'm not able to see the light". That's how it plays.

I have plenty of like-minded friends. It just so happens that the guests expected are all on my wife's side of the family. No one is kidding anyone. If not for that, neither me nor they would be friends with one another or even know of the other.

Then again, my mother-in-law (RIP) was a wonderful Lady. She would never dream of bringing the subject up before me, she knew what I believed in. So it can work out, but respect is required. And this generation of Dems knows no boundaries, reject fraternization, stimulate discord.

Not kidding, I've felt more comfortable in the midst of full-fledged communists. At least you knew exactly where they stood. You see, the guests think they are "liberal", they just don't know/recognize to what extent.

Regardless, new year's eve is invariably a time of melancholy for me. It will be again this time around. Smile

ETA: The Captain (Psychiatrist) engages me in conversation more than the others. I believe he thinks I make a great case study. Big Grin

Do us all a favor and put up a chart on the wall depicting the correct Seppuku steps and offer free tools to perform the ritual.
