This past weekend, my almost 21-year old son and I participated in his first marathon in Tucson. He did great and it was fun to push him along. He encountered the typical first time marathon pitfalls - nutrition intake, over zealous start (it was downhill, hard not to go fast) and the mental game to fight through the last six miles. The wheels came off as I thought they might, but he still did very well - 3:23. As we crossed the finish line, the MC said "Congrats Danielle!" He was lucid enough to correct the MC - "It's Daniel!!!!" Hilarious.
