Mentioned in an article on Ars Technica, you can download a csv file (import to Excel or Numbers) of Amazon purchases over a date range. The history only goes back to 2006, but it is interesting to get the whole thing. Log in, click on your account. IOW, don't just hover over it for the drop down list. Click it to get all of your account options. Go to "Ordering and Shopping Preferences"/"Download Order Reports". I set it to the whole (available) enchilada, which is 2006-01-01-->today, during which time I've spent more than I thought at Amazon. It lists each item, description, list price, purchase price, seller, payment method, and other less useful information. The total sort of amazed me at first, but on reflection of the time period covered, as well as some big ticket items I've bought, not so surprising. This message has been edited. I'm definitely going to have to check that out. If nothing else, I can see where it would save me from having to check year-to-year history when I'm trying to remember from whom I may have purchased a particular item. Thanks. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "And it's time that particularly, some of our corporations learned, that when you get in bed with government, you're going to get more than a good night's sleep." - Ronald Reagan

15K since 2011. Not too bad. I'd be curious to see the same results from my Costco account ___________________________ No thanks, I've already got a penguin.

I got $10,200 since 2013 for 384 items. Jeez, they do add up and I am surprised at how much I've order. Prime makes it too easy.

I download this every year to document deductible items for our rental houses. _________________________ “Remember, remember the fifth of November!"

Drill Here, Drill Now |
Thanks for the tip. I've been an Amazon shopper for nearly 2 decades, but thanks to both Prime and Subscribe & Save 58.7% of my spending has occurred since June '16. This is a great time to remind people to shop on Amazon Smile instead of regular Amazon. It only takes two steps to have 0.5% of your Amazon spending go to charity: It doesn't cost you anything (Amazon gives to charity) and you could be helping your favorite cause just by doing something you would normally do. After approx 1 minute: "Your report will continue to process even if you leave this page. You will receive an email when your report is finished. Reports should finish in a few seconds for most users but if you have lots of orders or there are lots of requests it may take longer." After another 15+ minutes, still no email. What's that smell? It smells like fried electronics. I've ordered a lot of stuff. ETA: I restarted the report twice. All times the report status eventually shows "Failed". ETA2: I specified a smaller date range (2010 to present) and the report worked.

Three Generations of Service |
Just north of $20K since 2006. I was a little overwhelmed until I realized that: A) That's about $1700 a year and; 2) $4K of that was my generator. What I've saved with Prime shipping plus the time and gas I haven't spend wandering all over Eastern Maine looking for stuff makes it well worth it IMHO. EDIT: I told the wife about the download and had her venture a guess as to the total. Her first shot at it was $100K !!! (Wish I'd known that, I'd have a LOT more toys!) The same thing happened to me. Had to enter a smaller range to get it to work. Maybe I had too many orders. _____________________________________ Because in the end, you won’t remember the time you spent working in the office or mowing your lawn. Climb that goddamn mountain. Jack Kerouac

I am not good with Excel. I downloaded it and see all the individual items. 908 in all. But I am not seeing the grand total spent and don't really want to type in all 908 and add them together. How are you all determining the grand total spent? ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. If we got each other, and that's all we have. This might also work in Excel, I don't know. In Numbers (Mac), highlight an entire column and down at the bottom in the status bar place, it shows the Sum, Average, Min, Max, and Count. You can also use this same feature by just highlighting any few cells with the same sort of data in them.

Column AD is the item total. One way of add everything in that column is to left the first item and drag all the way down to the last item then look at the bottom right of the excel window and it will display average, total count, and sum. JP

BTW, I've spent almost 58K since 2008! Yikes! Although some of this was for work, but still. JP

Staring back from the abyss |
In Excel, highlight the "P" column (just click on the P. Then go to the "formulas" tab and click on Autosum (Greek sigma). Your total will be at the bottom of the column. ________________________________________________________ "Great danger lies in the notion that we can reason with evil." Doug Patton.
