I just picked up a MacBook Pro and am going to use Boot Camp to also run Windows on it. I haven’t bought or used Windows in years...I don’t even know where to buy it?? I’d prefer to buy it on a USB or disc if possible. Is this even possible?

Thanks!

Buy it from Microsoft and pony up the $119/199 they ask. Don't be tricked with the $39 specials everywhere else on the web. They are some kind of developers' licences that eventually expire.

You can also buy at any retail computer store.
You can use the Digital License to activate. You can also create your own media such as a bootable USB key.
The media is already available online >

You can but you'll pay extra and there's no reason to.

Just open a Microsoft account and remember your details. All your purchases and downloads will be available to you when you log on.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Are you sure? I'm seeing the same price as for download, and shipping is free as well.

I bought here at the suggestion of a forum member that stated he has used it numerous times.

https://www.scdkey.com/microso...-global_1227-20.html

It works and I am running it just fine.
The product description specifically states a PERMANENT key. So I am not sure if this is the same as Kkina is referring to.

I downloaded an iso file from Microsoft in the link provided by the website.

I used it to bring back a very old Vista laptop.
Needed a laptop to make a few quick one time changes to some settings on my new Expedition. I loaded the Ford Shop Manual .pdf I bought onto it as well. Will also search forums and YouTube when working on the truck. So it is a limited use scenario.
I downloaded 10 directly from Microsoft. Worst case scenario buy a code from Microsoft if it were to go bad.
But it was explained to me they are legit codes just purchased in crazy large numbers.

I am asking because I honestly don’t know but how is it not legit?

I downloaded Windows 10 directly from Microsoft, ran Microsoft’s own activation check, and setup an account for updates using Microsoft’s website.
If it were not a legit verification code would Microsoft not deny the code??

I buy car parts from RockAuto all the time.
ABS sensor for my Explorer was $13 from them for the Ford Motorcraft part vs. $75 from the dealership. Plug wires 19.99 that were $68 at the dealer. They buy in bulk or close out from other places, are these not legit parts?

I buy all my Disney BluRays as region free imports from Amazon for $10-$15 instead of $25-$30. Are they not legit?

Not trying to argue actually would like to be educated on the topic.

When I built my PC, I got Windows from Newegg. I even went to the Microsoft website to figure out how to know if what I was buying was legit, and all it could tell me was either buy it from them or a reputable dealer, and deeply discounted = counterfeit.

Rock Auto - I don't know how they do it. At least you're getting hard goods there, although they could still be counterfeit.

Amazon region-free Blu-Rays - again, not sure, but it wouldn't surprise me if counterfeit. Is it Amazon selling it, or someone else? Has that seller been around for a while, or are you getting the Blu-Rays from a different Amazon Marketplace seller each time? I'm not an expert, but my gut tells me they could be skirting copyright or licensing agreements.

I get emails all the time for drugs from Canadian pharmacies. Deeply discounted drugs. Am I likely to buy my staten drugs from Canada because they are 10% of what I'm paying now? No, thanks, I think I'll stick with Walgreens. Still not a guarantee of authenticity, but a much higher confidence of it.

Seriously - when you get something for $14, vs. $100+ from the legitimate retailers (Newegg, others), doesn't it make you scratch your head? Will it work? Most likely. Is it right? Probably not.

Just my $0.02. I'm not a lawyer, software developer, movie producer or manufacturer, nor do I pretend to be on TV or elsewhere.

Thus the metric system did not really catch on in the States, unless you count the increasing popularity of the nine-millimeter bullet.

The reason Rock Auto is cheaper is they buy in serious bulk or also buy closeouts from dealers and parts stores going out of business.

Disney Discs I have bought some are sold by Amazon others just fulfilled by Amazon. They are the real deal.
Disney sells different discs at different prices based upon region markings and quantities.

My understanding of places like SCDKEY is they buy CD keys in huge bulk numbers at a substantial discount.
They sell tons of Microsoft product keys for every platform.
Just like Dell, Lenovo, buys keys from Microsoft at much discounted prices, they just install them on computers SCDKEY provides them directly not installed on a machine.

Just because they are cheaper does not mean something is not legit.
I am curious as to what specifically makes these not legit.
SCDKEY is no fly by night operation. Seems that Microsoft would do what they could to shut them down, not activate the keys, make one provide a proof of puchase for activation etc.

We’re all the Microsoft CD keys I bought in college from my University for $10 not legit?

I'm still seeing those discounted keys are not legit and you run the risk of MS shutting you down eventually. Even after a couple years, you never know when.

Buy from an authorized key reseller. There are a number of them out there. I paid $40 for the last windows 10 key I bought.

You would be wrong on the bulk buying assumption.
I have been buying from Microsoft for over twenty years and know all of the pricing structures.
$14 for W10 that costs in the neighborhood of $130 is ridiculous.
There are many ways to get the CD keys that I won't disclose but I assure you sooner or later it will come back to bite you.
