Not usually, they're laying all over -most are semi to completely hidden. Purpose designated guns are in their purpose driven spot. Truck gun, barn gun, jeep gun, get-home bag gun, etc. My assortment of daily carry pistols are in a secret compartment in my bedroom where I also keep my wallet, daily carry knives, rings, watches, etc. EDC drawer. It's not locked, but unless you know how to pull the lever which isn't in plain sight...you'd have a difficult time finding it.

A lot of my guns live in cases, mostly purpose built for that gun and situation. A good example is my primary hunting rifle, kept with the hunting gear and stuff. Then there's the end of the world/go-bag for doing serious stuff, all stored in a go bag. It lives in a place in my master bedroom that also isn't obvious at first sight. Fishing gun with my fishing vest, etc.

Then there are the the secondary and tertiary setups stored in other locations, like my office and my Coach. Both of those are behind multiple locked doors and video surveillance.

I've never been much into safes. I keep a strong box (stack on) in my leather/gun workshop (outbuilding on my property). If I'm working on a gun or a customer's gun it goes in there if I'm not in the building.

I don't really have a large collection to show off or anything of considerable collectors value to keep nice. Nothing really heirloom either.

We don't have guests over to our house but on rare occasions. Never in our private rooms. Public space (dining room/living room/guest bathroom) guns are kept without rounds in the chamber and above reach of most children, and not in plain sight. We had a visitor once with an overly curious child...we moved guns for that visit to a locked room.

My last child in the house is beyond the age of trust.

I'm not overly concerned about theft. Truck guns are throwaways, and I keep my doors locked. Usually, with a Dutch shepherd inside also. If I go to Los Skanchorage and am forced to spend the night...I bring my guns in with me. I'm not sure if I'm willing to ever spend the night in Anchorage again anyway. The place is a shithole. I wouldn't drive my YJ there. I do have a locked compartment for my YJ gun....because YJ's don't lock very well. Again...Dutch Sheppard security system. He even bit my friend *whom he loves) who thought he could open my door and pet the dog in the parking lot without me. I was impressed, it was a soft bite didn't break the skin but left a good mark and a bruise.

I know a bunch of people here think having a gun outside of fort knox is some mortal sin. You do you...also, you're wrong. I have no duty to secure a firearm from anyone except a child. If you're able to get to one of my guns, you've broken a lock/window/door down. Even if I'm not home, and my dogs aren't home...my neighbor will probably shoot a thief anyway. We don't leave our doors unlocked, and we have decent locks that take a little skill to pick.

I've always wanted to build a cool gear room and organize on the wall. Heated space is a premium right now. Maybe someday.

No. I hung a handgun on the wall for decoration in my son's room. It's a custom handgun from a video game, but in a pinch, it will work just fine if he needs to defend himself.

Not minority enough!

Thank you. I couldn't have said it better.

All my neighbors are very protective of each other.

Conversely, the time my home was burgled, it was the neighbors. (Specifically, the teenage punk kids of the adjacent neighbor.)

I have a flintlock rifle and a brown Bess standing in a corner when you first enter my home. They won’t fit in the safe.

Theres a shotgun in the corner in the MBR. But it’s the only gun that would work in a pinch.
