I live on a little lake in Missouri, and it's getting to be many of the homes here are summer places for fancy folks from the city. Today a friend of mine calls me to come over and look at the bilge pump on his boat, it has an auto switch and won't shut off. I drive a half mile and and there's no place to park at his house, there's apparently something going on there, and it isn't even 1:00 yet. I walk down to the lakeside and expect to see him down at his dock, but the boat is gone. I start to call him when 10 thirty something women come out of the house with drink in hand.

The first one out says hello, and I tell her I'm looking for Nate, so she helps get ahold of him and he's on his way back in the boat. The women are all hoity toitys who apparently for some kind of fundraiser, won a day at the lake to benefit a private school where their kids go. Turned out there was 25-30 women, all in swimsuits and coverups, and if not all ready getting a buzz on, were quite friendly.

Nate shows up in his boat, obviously buzzing across the lake at over the 40 MPH speed limit. He pops the engine hatch and there's enough water to trip the bilge float switch, but the pump isn't pumping it out. I figure there's debris in the pump and tell Nate to go get the garden hose to back flush the pump. 10 seconds of water through the discharge, and the pump starts pumping.

Nate tells me about the fundraiser that he'll be taking them for boat rides all day, him and a buddy captaining for the 25-30 women. I say something about the odds being good, He says: "and the goods are odd!"

You should've stayed and offered to be the dock boy, or at least the line handler!

The one that looked like Julie Benz on Dexter, and looking cute in her sun dress/coverup sent some inviting smiles and made it tempting to stay. I could have slipped into the cabana boy, or boat valet role with aplomb. My wife was waiting for me to go to Costco, breaking the rule to not leave the lake in the summer. Verifying the reasoning behind the rule.

A few years ago I was asked to bbq cater a bachelorette party of about 30 younger ladies at a lake in Wisconsin with a very nice house owned by the brides family. It was far enough from home that going home after they ate was not a option. I stayed at a motel in a town about 10 miles away.

I had plenty offers to stay and party as there was plenty room. Cool

I suspect some of those society chicks could give that bilge pump a lesson or two!
