...that can recognize the caller info in caller ID on an inbound call and simply reject the call? I'm running the most current version of Android which ID's potential scam calls as such in the caller ID field, which allows me to manually reject these calls. However, I seem to be getting deluged with such calls of late and their driving me nuts when I'm in meetings or even driving. In a nut shell, is there a program that will allow me to automatically reject all such 'scam' calls? ----------------------------- Guns are awesome because they shoot solid lead freedom. Hello! My wife just got the Samsung Galaxy s9 - we are iPhone users, so she’s having one hell of a difficult time. I’m watching this post! Jim That which doesn't kill you only makes you stronger

I bought a new android phone last month. It's running v7 (Nougat) but will be factory updated to v8 (Oreo) OTA shortly. I simply use its feature to block calls and SMS from anyone not in my contacts list. If someone needs to get to me that isn't in my contacts list they can still leave voice mail. Works for me. I am using Hiya on a Samsung s8 plus. Was recommended in a previous thread here. Quite satisfied with it. The caller ID is quite good, and it stops a lot of spam calls - or at least notifies you that they are spam. Then you can easily block that number. It doesn't seem to interfere with anything else on the phone

probably a good thing I don't have a cut |
I just bought a Galaxy S9 on the 16th and am still getting familiar with it. It is from T-mobile and there is a T-mobile app already on it called Name ID that is supposed to do this very thing. I activated it but haven't received any spam calls yet to see how it works.

I'm on T-Mobile too and contacted them tonight to explore my options about these bogus calls. Apparently its 'their' SPAM ID program (not necessarily Android) that is automatically ID'ing SPAM calls for me. They also offer a 'free' SPAM Blocking network based program you can activate on your phone by calling #662# that's supposed to keep robo or telemarketing calls from even hitting your phone. I enabled it tonight to give it a try. ----------------------------- Guns are awesome because they shoot solid lead freedom. Every man should have several guns. I use one called Call Control which pretty much does that. I have my own style of humor. I call it Snarkasm.

"Should I Answer" You can set it to reject any call not in your contacts. Then you can choose to block any call that it refuses to let ring and also protect your voice mail if desired. Hiya works OK. Needs updated, or my Moto Z is acting up. Worked fine on Note 4 & moto Z for a long time.

I'm Fine |
Should I Answer works okay. It's crowd networked, so it uses your ratings and other peoples ratings to decide what to reject and what not to reject. Now days with the number spoofing, it takes a while to get rid of all the crap that comes at you... ------------------ SBrooks

Most all these apps you guys are citing require an offending number to be added to a blacklist for future blocking. Given the norm these scam artists use of different numbers spoofed every time, this step doesn't pass my sanity check. Again that's why I'm blocking everything not in my contacts list as explained above in an earlier post I made. Much less labor intensive and extremely effective. There is one called PrivacyStar that worked quite well for me in the past.

On AT&T, use AT&T Call Protect app by AT&T It identifies at the carrier level and display warnings such as Spam, Telemarketer, etc even if the scums spoofed the caller IDs, so you can reject/block such calls. This is similar to Google phone dialer app on Nexus/Pixel phones. And it's free. Verizon and other carriers also have such apps but I think Verizon charges some fee for it.

As I noted above, T-Mobile also has similar carrier level utilities. So there. So far after enabling T-Mobile's SPAM Block utility last night I might have had 'one' SPAM call today. That's a huge improvement over the 6 to 10 SPAM calls I was getting a day. Fingers crossed, hopefully this will solve my issues. ----------------------------- Guns are awesome because they shoot solid lead freedom. Every man should have several guns. I’ve used the “Mr. Number” app for almost 2 years and it does a decent job at filtering out the junk calls. “I won't be wronged. I won't be insulted. I won't be laid a-hand on. I don't do these things to other people, and I require the same from them.”
