When I found Sig Forum...
I bought my first SIG, a P226 back in 1990. I don’t remember how many years I lurked before joining the forum in 2012 and participating in the discussions. Still my favorite place on the internet.

I was 20 years old, approaching my 21st birthday, which I knew I was going to buy a gun for and I very much wanted it to be a P226. I signed up for SF and Calguns, but relied heavily on the folks of SF to guide me through the understanding of a modern combat pistol. My only experience at the time really was my dad’s SW model 41 target .22 that I was used to. Ultimately I pulled the trigger on a basic P226 (dream gun) through Steve with SCP Firearms. I took possession of my first pistol ever at San Diego State University where member JAllen’s kid I believe was attending at the same time. I remember getting a call from Steve making sure I was happy with everything and making sure I liked the gun. He also sold the standard capacity mags for me and sent me the check since I couldn’t have them.

I had been a very happy P226/9mm for about 15 and then decided that I wanted one in 45ACP.

My very first semi-auto was a Colt Combat Commander that I bought in the early 80’s but for some reason could never shoot it accurately at distance. My saying was I could aim at the sky and the rd would hit the ground.

At the time of joining the P220/45 Combat had caught my eye. The one with the gold frame and black slide and tan grips.

I joined here to find out more about them. While I like the gun the rail was the turn off for me. After looking long and hard I found a NOS P220/45 without a rail. Its still shoots better then the Colt ever did so I sold the Colt off.

Well my mistake was joining here as it opened me up to all things Sig which started a long history of collecting many many Sigs. Have thinned things down to my favorite 10 Sigs which I cannot live without. Or so I think!

I’m another refugee from S&W Forum when Para sold it. I had a couple of Sigs, a Browning BDA (P220) and a P225, but was really more interested in S&W revolvers. I moved here because of Para’s moderation style.

In September 2004 or 2005 I was northbound heading into Amarillo on a trip out West with the future wife. I was listening to Tom Gresham's GunTalk and he mentioned this place. I lurked for a couple years and then registered in 2007.

I joined early on when the the membership was in the hundreds, not thousands. I had just purchased a SP2340 in 40 S&W and was looking for information.

I stepped away for a while and lost access to the email account I registered with so rejoined under a different name.

I had three children when I joined, my youngest was 3-yrs old. He is a captain in the Army now.

I bought my first pistol, a P226/9mm, in the mid 90's but never really got into internet gun forums until 2007 ish. I lurked on half a dozen gun forums including here for a few years and found myself spending more time here and less time anywhere else until this place was the only forum i spent anything time on.

I bought a used P229/.357 sig and had some questions so I joined up. This is still the only internet forum i am registered on.

I still have the P226 and the P229 along with a few more although the P226 is now my daughter in law's. I gifted it to her years ago but I have been holding it for her as she couldn’t take it with her when my son got orders to Japan.

I lurked for a few years curious about why the folks who like Sigs had such a passion for them. The various personalities here were quite seductive, and I registered and started posting. I have to say I have learned much more than I have contributed, and I owe Para and the SF community a huge debt that I fear will never be repaid.

I soon bought a P220 Elite and haven't looked back. Now Sigs take up a significant portion of my safe, and my wife has become a convert. I'm still working on her to read SF.

Wow. I just hit x20 years this month.

I just was hired in my first real job. Was a single guy. Had just bought my first pistol as an adult. (1989 Date Code P226.)

Thanks all to all the knowledge you guys have provided.

Coming up on ten years for me here. Back then, I did not own a Glock of any sort. Was guided here when searching for answers about my Mauser M2 (which was my primary house gun then). A couple of P320s, a P290, an SP2022 and several Glocks later (and a good half dozen or more fixed blade knives), I come here two or three times a day for that feeling of community still.

It was shortly after 9-11. I was Captain on the last airliner to take off that day. It was obvious everything was going to change. I misguidedly believed the FAA would return to the pre-1970's requirement that Captains be armed.

Upon learning that the Sig229 was issued to Secret Service, I bought one and came here to learn.

I already had a P225, the civilian model. And the P6 pistols were flooding the market. I wanted to know the differences between the two models. I bought several of the P6 variants just to get the magazines. That eventually led to a project to get Barsto to tool up for a run of threaded barrels for the P225/P6.
As I researched SIG and their (at the time) To Hell and Back Reliability, I gathered up more SIGs. I found my favorite in the P220 line and stayed theough the disappointment of the 556 rifles.
The rifles are all gone now, but I’ll be keeping all the original P22x pistols I have collected. I’ll probably even keep the two P320s that I got a smoking deal on before the recent unpleasantness.

And ive probably learned more about all the other stuff covered on here than I ever did about firearms. The SIGForum members have a width and breadth of knowledge that I haven’t found anywhere else.

Bought my first Sig in 1986. As I was looking for another, I came across this forum looking for information and decided to join in 2011. I have bought a few more Sig’s over the next few years but always start my search right here. I read a great deal but limit my responses in every facet of my life and my favorite forums(cannot make a change if it is not broke). I do enjoy this site as the administrators make it a great place to visit.

In 2001 I bought a retired JK (1989) P226 from my wife's brother in law, he was a Michigan State Police trooper at the time. I wanted to learn more about this fine pistol, and stumbled across this fantastic community.

I found out about Sig Forum back in 2006-2007 from another forum, one that was primarily CCW-centered. At first I tried to be a part of both but eventually gave up on them and started just being a part of SF for all things gun related and a ton more.

I had just bought my first Sig and second pistol I'd ever owned which was a P239 9mm

Went back to that first forum a year or so ago and holy crap it's like a ghost town there with new post frequency not measured by the seconds and minutes like here but by the WEEKS.

Same for me, I had bought a P250 Compact when Sig came out with it in 07, my LGS had Sig in the store and this was the hot item at the time.

Like others here, I found out that Secret Service was using Sigs for protective duty. It took a while and some research to discover it was the P229, and more research to find out why.

That's when I ran across SIGforum, and I joined right then and there, not working too hard on my user name ("new to SIG" is pretty damn old now, isn't it?).

I was pretty much broke at the time due to medical issues my GF was going through, but finally picked up a P229 from a member here. It's well-used, but functionally perfect, originally delivered with a .357SIG barrel, and the previous owner included a 40S&W barrel with it.

Of course, I have a bunch of Glocks, now, as well! I'm going back-and-forth on picking up a P320 when the bottom of the market falls out.

The best part of joining has not been the guns, though, but the members and the leaders. I'm here every day, participating when I think I can add to the conversations, always learning useful stuff for my life. It's been 17 years, and I'm sticking it out for more.

I was in my first year of med school and had my Sig 220 that I’d bought used from a friend. Med school, residency, fellowship all completed with a few more Sigs in the herd.
