My wife ( turning_gal ) has been making lots of sawdust recently and look was was hiding inside a block of Basswood, a life sized Red Shoulder hawk.

He is perched on a natural chunk of Buckeye Burl, but he has one addition, his lunch is hiding below. She carved the mouse in about two hours and used a few bristles from one of her detail paint brushes for the whiskers.

The most interesting fact is she has only been power carving for 2 years and this only her 9th bird. Her attention to detail fooled many guests at a fine art show In Raleigh, NC this weekend. Several commented from a distance they thought it was real, that is a true complement for her skills.

Enjoy....

She does, we have a $3,500 price tag on it. We may, just may, have a buyer. We should know in a few weeks.

Very nice work.

Back when I was in the service, I worked with an Air Force MSGT in ER at night for awhile. He'd bring in a very roughly cut piece of wood and by the end of the shift, he'd hand carve a duck decoy. The detail on them was remarkable. He also did a lot of nose art on the B52s on base. True artists have a gift that I will never know.

Jim,
Yet again Christine absolutely stuns with what she creates. Amazing! Truly hope that buyer comes through.
