When I was in the military, I would always volunteer for the "Christmas" schedule so someone could spend time at home.
The Squadron Commander, Wing Commander, Deputy Commander for Maintenance, and the Officer's Wives Club would all make a trip to the Flight Line and bring host food, snacks and visit for a bit. It was unique and something a lot of troops never experienced in the "ropes are down, lets all dance" sort of way.
My wife and I put up a tree and decorated and invited unaccompanied troops over during Christmas.
Those were some of the most memorable times, and I am glad we did it.
Christmas is not a threat to me.
I have never understood the hate.
