My parents 56th anniversary is coming up. They are very difficult to shop for. Usually I get them a gift card to restaurants they enjoy, but that is out of the question currently. I’ve also shipped them lobsters and filet a few times, they enjoy that. But I’d like to do something different. They live out of state, and they have already mentioned to NEVER give them material gifts. They are at the age they want to clear the clutter.

But this could be a keepsake. I’d use a picture from their wedding.

Is the quality good? Any recommendations for a company to use? Is this just a bad idea in the first place?

No. My sister, however, gave my parents something called an “aura“ photo album frame and it updates family photos regularly from across the country, from all family members who choose to participate. It’s fun to see new images flash across the screen and talk about what’s going on in their worlds. At the time, I scoffed at it, but it’s proven to be something my mom really enjoys- so much that she packs it up and takes it with her when she leaves for the winter to set up at her winter home.

IMO, I would keep looking for other ideas.

Reason being, even very nice clutter is clutter. They would either have to store it, or put it out and it doesn't sound like they are looking for more 'stuff' to deal with.

I purchased one for mothers day from https://artpix3d.com/

One side is standard laser print and the other side is 3D and will move slightly when you change the angle.

Overall its pretty nice.

The picture does not "pop" as much as the website shows. They might be better if you opt for the additional lighted base, which I did not. I would estimate clarity is about 65% of what the website shows without the lighted base. I bought the medium rectangle, it was about $100.

If someone does not have one it would be a nice gift of something unique.

I too, would look for something else.

As a keepsake, what purpose does it serve? It's not something that has particular importance to them, other than that it has a photo of them. A photo that they've likely already seen, or already have.

Irreverent, I will check out the Aura frame. I think they would enjoy that.

We bought them a digital frame about a decade ago, and they loved it. But it became obsolete.

Thanks for the suggestion, it might be a perfect gift!

I too, gifted my mother a picture frame which can be remotely updated and managed. I went with the “Nixplay” brand. She loves it. The phone app allows updates “on the fly”.

I can’t tell you how wrong I was when I laughed at it (don’t tell my sis). I just checked their website, and just so you know the picture slides to the next in the queue after a defined amount of time- you don’t have to do it manually. You can move it back if there’s something you’d like to review.
She must have 100s on there now, or pretty damn close to a thousand. It’s a moving picture show. I’m sure the other brands are just as good, this has held up without fail for several years now, and several trips back and forth to the snowbird home. You may have to set it up for them to get the interest started, and naturally segregate photos that you don’t want to include On their frame Wink
Best of luck.

If they're hard to shop for, you could follow the lead of Barney Fife and get them a new septic tank.

Just kidding, the photo albums sound like a good idea, although they are a bit reminiscent of those photo loops, you encounter at the funeral home. In any event, my congratulations to them.
