And that's why I like baseball, I don't need it to be football.

I love abs, makes the ump accountable. Last nights LA-SF game ump calls 3-2 pitch a ball. LA catcher Will Smith challenged and was successful, ball was 2" high, Smith is 16-0 in challenges. Next pitch Shohei struck him out. I watch a lot of baseball and abs does not slow game imho.

FYI - MLB.com has got a $5.99 a month streaming package that is much improved over previous years. ESPN is running things now and they've gotten rid of the obnoxious gambling commercials that polluted the air in space between innings - sometimes commercials went so long you missed 1st pitch. Not so now, even a fair amount of dead space silence.

The Big Inning program is a 4 game screen live and commercial free and they move from game to game showing games with the most action. Also have condensed games 2 hours after final out. I love that feature. Live audio for all games w/no blackouts and choice of home/away feeds, too. Check it out. Cool

I'm not following...
If the 3-2 pitch was called a ball... that's a walk. If it was challenged, and successful... that's a strike-out. Right? No next pitch required.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

that doesn't make any sense Roll Eyes

I'll get back to you.

Here's what happened:

Bottom of 5th, count was 3-1, ump called ball 4, Smith challenged and was successful, count now 3-2 and batter strikes out on next pitch.

old rugged cross, you must be watching games that have a lot of challenges. Of the games I’ve watched, it takes just a few seconds to challenge and get the correct call. Hell, the batters used to take way longer stepping out after every pitch.

I’d like to see hard numbers but I believe it has cut way down on the egregious calls. It probably has not changed the percentage of close calls much but nobody expected it to. Close calls are just that, and I never minded incorrect calls that were close. Human error is not prejudiced. As long as the ump was consistent with both sides, I’m okay with that.

The flagrant calls in the last several years was, in my opinion, getting a little out of hand. I hope it doesn’t ruin the game for you. I enjoy the change.

I’ll add this: I find the box around the strike zone, the constant info box cluttering up the screen, and the streamers running at the bottom to tell you who is leading the F1 race today, who is playing well at the Masters today, and all manner of other sports related news, more annoying than any other aspect of the game.

I wish I could have a clutter free screen as a Father’s Day gift every year across the league. Just one damn day!
