It is clip after clip of Democrats telling us how great McCain is - Obama, Biden, both Clintons, John Kerry, etc.

So far the only Republican I've seen is Lindsey Graham.

Update: It's over and still Graham was the only Republican they found to say anything good about McCain. That should tell you something right there.

Can't wait til he's out of the senate.

Surprised? I'm not. While I'm not a conspiracy theorist, it strikes me that the Democrats could create a "perfect storm" for the 2008 election by maneuvering John McCain into the Republican candidacy, have him choose some unknown (and some say batshit crazy) woman as his running mate, and clear the path for Obama to win the White House.

Gee, no wonder all the Dems love him so.

You can't truly call yourself "peaceful" unless you are capable of great violence. If you're not capable of great violence, you're not peaceful, you're harmless.

I have nothing good to say about him.

Yeah, he spent time in a N. Vietnam POW camp.

So did a lot of others and I don't recall any of those others riding that horse into politics.

AIR, he crashed a couple fighters before going down and into POW camp.

If he had been a better pilot maybe he would not have ended up in the Hanoi Hilton.

As a senator he has done nothing of note that I can recall, unless we count his contribution to establishing the DC swamp.

And good Ol' grahamnesty? Another turn coat SOB that does not deserve the position.

The drain we are circling in the US is as a result of the "all or nothing" interpretation of the actions of our citizens and elected officials. I attended our Memorial Day ceremonies today and looked around at all of my brothers and sisters in arms. All I cared about was their devotion to the United States. When I think about Senator McCain, I don't see his mistakes in the first instance, all I care about is his devotion to the United States. I cut him slack.

When I think about McCain and what's he's done to this country over the past 25+ years, I get very angry. That's why on a day like today, I choose not to think about him at all.

It was not easy. I came to it flipping channels during a commercial. They had Biden talking about how great McCain is. Then they cut to Joe Lieberman. I got curious if they were going to have any Republicans. They had Kerry, Ted Kennedy's wife, Obama, etc. The only reason I made it to the end was curiosity....I just wanted to see if they could find a Republican to say anything positive about him. I kept watching and waiting...then the credits rolled.

You'd think if he were such a paragon of bipartisanship that both sides would praise him, right?

I have no reason to watch that. I read enough about it to know enough to not watch it.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Echo that!

I watched one today about the real hero in the Hanoi Hilton, Adm Stockdale. They made brief mention of McStain only to say that he was there.

I hope one day that the truth comes out about McCain and his time in Hanoi.

And I agree that Adm. Stockdale is the real hero of Hanoi, not McCain.

So all of his opponents praise him, effectively none of his allies do. Probably a good indication of where his loyalties lie.

Recently, someone here made a very good point. Benedict Arnold was a brilliant leader and a hero of the revolution. That’s not what we remember him for, because what he did after was the bigger deal. Should we cut him some slack also?

Never attribute to malice that which can be explained by stupidity. No Republican stood a chance that year anyway.
