My feral pal’s new home

pessimistMy feral pal’s new home
Before the start of winter, I had a new house built for my furry friend. Just thought I’d share some photos of my friend’s new home for anyone that’s interested.
His old dwelling, which he used for the last few years, consisted of a large cooler filled with straw. I made a wood top covered by a tarp to prevent rain and snow from getting in. During the cold months, I put a heated pad in there that was designed for outdoor use. It remains warm all the time and when a pressure switch is activated by his weight, it climbs to 105 degrees. He seemed to love it but when the temperature dropped into the teens, I would be preoccupied with how he was making out. Also, the old setup is an eyesore and I’m sick of looking at it.
Well, his new house is splendid and it’s heated! I’ve kept his old house in place for now because he’s extraordinarily skittish and I knew it would take a while for him to explore the new place and settle in. It’s been in place for over 2 months and it seems he’s finally abandoned his old spot and moved in full time.

9x18Wow! That is great. Very nice home and good pics but where is one of the aforementioned furry friend? Is it a cat?
In any event, he/she is well provided for.

Serious about crackers. January 12, 2019, 04:23 PM
pessimistThankfully, I haven’t had any trouble with critters thus far. I have raccoons, possums and a skunk that visit occasionally but they haven’t seemed interested in his house.
Here’s a couple of photos of Hunter:

vthokyIs that a Hound Heater in there?
I got one of those for my pup's house some years ago... what a nice product!
God bless America. January 12, 2019, 06:49 PM
Rey HRHI got the same space heaters for my dogs.
That's nice you're taking care of your friend.
"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

CQB60You, my friend, are a truly good soul. I recently went through the evolution of converting a cooler with a straw bedding for a furry friend inherited from a neighbor. Good on you!

Nice idea! I thought (mistakenly, it seems) the Hound Heater had its own thermostat. Thank you for pointing that out.
