Been feeding the little guy for about 3 years. I am pretty much the only human he trusts. Runs away from others. As I am feeding him he likes to rub up against me showing he is grateful for the foods. He's got ear mites bad. Maybe a flea problem too. A lady is bringing me some mite killer to put in his ears. He has taken to rubbing his head and ears on the back of my hand while I put out his food. He is very uncomfortable. He's a good keekee and needs help. Trying to figure a way to restrain him so I can put the mite killer in his ears and flea killer on his back. He's got long teeth and I dont need no cat puncture wounds. Got any ideas how to hold him for a couple minutes so he cant shred my butt?

Though I may get shredded for suggesting this, just keep offering him/her a meal as you can and leave him/her alone beyond that. Feral cats are not to be trifled with. Additionally, even if you can figure out a way to treat it, the mites and fleas will return if ongoing care is not continued, which this cat is not likely to put up with. If you want to go further, have animal control pick the cat up. If your local policies are the same as they are here, Animal Control will immunize, spay/neuter, do basic care, and then release the cat back to where they picked it up. ----------------------------- Guns are awesome because they shoot solid lead freedom. Otherwise, he may be euthanized, so make sure you check first. ________________________________________________

Yes, there is a Clinic which will take care of him but I will need to catch and transport as hes had no shots. They will bring him back here. Their site says they wont use their transporters so I have those here. Thought about feeding him near the front of a transporter, gloves on and a towel, wrap up the tasmainien devil in a nano second and shoving his butt in the box..

I would call a local veterinarian to get ideas. Just explain the situation. Aside from getting bitten and ending up w/ a large Dr. bill, it's possible you'll lose some trust from your friend if you go Hands-On. I have a Kiki that I Trapped, Nuetered, and tried to Release (TNR)because she kept having kittens but now she stays indoors most of the time and is usually by my side. Luckily the local Bissel co. sponsors TNR and I got it done for cheap along w/ some feline medicines. As I'm typing this she's pawing my leg for attention.

You've apparently never seen what feral cats do to mere mortals who try and mess with them like that. That's why I suggested Animal Control who are both trained, equipped, and experienced, dealing with these fur tornadoes. ----------------------------- Guns are awesome because they shoot solid lead freedom. dsiets, if they would trap him, that would be better. I have Have a Hartz traps, crates and transporters. If he would go for tuna in a transporter or crate, that would be handy. Couldnt get UCAN in Cincinnati to answer the phone.

Try food in a carrier and close when he’s in. We rescued an abandoned cat on the city streets that way would only come to our porch and ran from other people. Ended up Adopting her.

David Lee, I'm not in any way questioning your motives, you'll doing something good for one of god's creatures. I'm just warning you, feral's are not to be trifled with, and they are super smart and wary. Something tells me he/she is not going to fall for the 'cat food in the transporter' scam. ----------------------------- Guns are awesome because they shoot solid lead freedom. If he trusts you enough that he rubs your legs just grab it, put it in a cat cage and take to a vet that treats feral animals for free or at least with a discount. After done they, or you, can return it to your area. The vet will loan you the cat cage and when you grab it be wearing leather gloves and a light coat to protect your arms just in case. No car is as much fun to drive, as any motorcycle is to ride.

yes they do. my daughter has had 12-15 ferals in her yard for years, with some still kittens delivering another litter. i've helped recover from freebie vet neuter service a couple times. my daughter gets the traps from a local outfit tied to the vet, sets the tunafish, cat is trapped & she's taken 3-6, depending how many are trapped for neutering. i pick 'em up in the traps later in the day, take 'em back to the yard, open the end & they run out.

What I have done before is use a heavy jacket, like a lined Lee or Levi jacket. Got to be quick and firm, obviously you have to disable those slashing switchblade paws and those needle sharp teeth. I have had some success doing that. Be brave and firm. Buena suerte.

Tractor Supply and other Farm and Ranch store carry live traps. My wife has had pretty good success with the one she uses at her job. ----------------------------- Always carry. Never tell.

I have a feral that's been living indoors with me for 6 months (after a 5 plus year courtship). Took over 3 years just to pet her. For the fleas, I was sprinkling Diatomaceous Earth in her cooler with straw and on the beds I put out for her. Also, I bought a product called Cats and Mites that comes in a little spray bottle. I would give her a squirt occasionally while she was near me. It used to aggregate her When i was able to start petting her, i began putting Advantage flea medicine on the base of her neck and it worked well.
