Does the city really think ballistic tests will help reduce the violence? Sure, they can find out in "hours" if the shell casings match casings from previous crimes, but those guns are stolen and passed around from gang-banger to gang-banger routinely. I wouldn't be surprised if they swapped guns between gangs, or stole each others guns. Sure, nobody is cooperating with investigators when it comes to solving crime so they need to do "something," and again they go for the easy stuff. They demand the easy stuff. They seem to avoid the HARD stuff, the CULTURE problem in certain areas of the city. I agree with your post. Feel good things, not solving the problem. NYC solved their gang problem, Chicago did not. This is what I was told and it makes sense. | |||

^^^^^ Not so much, anymore. Reading between the lines of crime stories in the "better" areas of Chicago these last few weeks, the Ghetto Rats are moving in. Groups of "teens" accosting and robbing (or worse) in areas north of The Loop/Downtown. You are missing the point. Never mind that the City has had this capability for years now, this van gives Dick "the turban" Durbin and Tiny Dancer the ability to tell the yuppies that they are doing something, that they were able to get the van to Chicago. They will eat this up as if it were the second coming of Christ. | |||
