Thank you Sigarms for your thoughtful reply to my specific questions. It appears there are reasonable time periods for checking/replacing or recharging batteries. It's very easy to forget the number and variety of batteries all over the household. At times I feel like I am the designated home battery tech. Between the smoke detectors, gun sights and other shooting gear, shop equipment, musical instrument gear, photography equipment, grandkids toys and flashlights it seems there is always a battery that needs attention. I'm sure there is an app that can help.

I can also say that the Fenix rechargeable batteries in my Fenix lights last a long time without use before needing a recharge. I try to recharge all of them once every few months or so when I think about it unless I see the light indicates the battery is low. Last night this thread made me go check every light. Only one pistol mounted Fenix light needed recharging. It still worked, it just gave a flash indication the battery was in need of recharge so I recharged it. I am sure it has been between 6-12 months since it was last charged.

Guys - Because of the discussions in this thread and specifically Av8nShooter’s questions, I just pulled every flashlight I have in my home, on my weapons, and in my vehicles and either recharged the battery or replaced the non-rechargeable batteries. The Fenix batteries were all in the 85 to 100% range (no red light on the indicator) but the non-rechargeable batteries in the vehicles and upstairs in the house needed replacing. Timely thread for me.

Agreed to being a good reminder post!!! Last night two of my Eotech optics with non-rechargeable Surefire CR123A batteries were dead and needed to be replaced. That would have sucked to have grabbed it when needed to find that out.

I keep mine for the backyard when I let the dog out. It has helped me spot deer, armadillos, and miscellaneous critters. Funny thing, I had a neighbor call me when I got it asking if the cops were searching my backyard because he saw a police spotlight in my yard. I chuckled and explained it was my new flashlight. He was shocked that was it was a handheld.

Despite its high output, you can scale it down and have a relatively 'normal' beam. However, I like it in lightsaber mode.
