gpbst3Selling a Car - Advice Needed
I looked into vroom a while back and the big issue I did not like was they do not pay you at time of pickup. You give them your vehicle and they pay you later. After they have more time to look it over. There is the potential to give you less money for issues they feel were not properly reported.

doublesharpI buy and sell regularly and it isn't hard. Craigslist charges $5 for a 30 day ad and you can put in 24 high def pictures and use as many words as you need. Take 24 good pictures from all angles and that will eliminate many questions.
It's your ball and your court - you set the terms. Don't put phone # in ad - use CL email only and don't respond to time wasters. You will be able to separate the wheat from the chaff and the strong buyers are often the first to respond.
Cars are very short supply right now and Acura is at the top of the list. If the miles are under 120,000 I'd probably price at $7500-8k, just a hunch without seeing it but if it's in good shape it will bring it.

Skins2881Just for fun I typed into KBB.com 2008 TL non-S with 130k miles in very good condition. Note sure if these parameters are close to your car, but I get $4,700 trade in $7,200 private party.

4MUL8RI used kbb.com to sell a 2007 Suburban with 160K on it. I put in the truthful condition, dents, scrapes, upholstery issues, etc. They put that info up for dealers to consider buying the car. I had dealers begging me to sell to them. Ended up with a check for $5K from one dealer. Easy money. Sure, I walked away from retail value. I also walked away from interacting with the public.

sig 226Brain Trusts:
I received the following email on my CL post. Sounds fishy?
--------
I want to buy it. are you the original owner and is it your final price? actually, I don't reply from cl mail. so, let me know at (gmail account, which I redacted)

sigseller2000I always assume 90% of the Craigslist replies are fishy.

Refusing to use CL mail redirect is a red flag to me.

AeteoclesFishy. After a while, you get the hang of it.
Anyone that is too excited to see the car is definitely a scammer. The scammer's MO is to get your personal contact information, and then create a situation of urgency, and then get you into a position to do things out of order where you end up holding the bag.
Typically, this means the scammer will contact you with an immediate offer to buy. They may ask one or two ancillary questions (Final price? Any accidents?) just to appear to be doing legitimate diligence, but always end up with an I'll take it now. NOW NOW NOW. URGENT URGENT URGENT!
Then, they will ask for your email or cell phone number so they can send you to a "verification" service. They'll say something like, I'm spending a lot of money, I need some verification that you are a real person blah blah blah. They will try to get you to spend $20-40 on a "verification service".
An alternate scam (which is aging now so not as prevalent) is that they need the car right away, they will pay you full price for it, but they are sending someone to pick it up. They will give you a little extra money (even by certified check!) and you pay the extra to the person picking it up as a shipping fee.
To avoid scams, this is how you roll:
Your answer to everything is: "Hi, most questions can be answered by reading the ad or looking at the photos. Feel free to ask any questions that I haven't already answered. I will provide a VIN if you wish do your own CarFax lookup. I will not ship, you must pay in-person, in-cash (actual paper money, draw a little dollar symbol on a pillowsack if you must), and I will not accept any offers or negotiate until you have seen the car in person."
Anyone legitimately interested in the car will come see the car in person, period.
