About 20 years ago Yahoo used to do monthly investment challenges. These involved investing with pretend money based on buying/selling stocks at the real world prices. At the end of the month, the winners would be announced and you would start over.

It was all for fun. At that point in time, the market was very volatile and the results at the end of the month could be extreme.

Are there any websites that still do something similar? Strictly for fun and without any real life $.

My wife uses this in her business classes: https://www.stockmarketgame.org/

Anyone can participate. You don't have to be a student.

You get $100k in fake currency to invest in a virtual stock market that follows the real-world stock market.

I thought there was some site which let you invest in fractions of shares? Seems like it would be more fun using 100-1000 of real money

TD Ameritrade has an account tracking/investment magagement application called "thinkorswim." One of the things you can do with this is to play with "Paper Money," perform trades with a phantom funded account. You can try out options/futures strategies and other exotic investments as well as more conservative equities, etc. No risk, except perhaps to ones pride, but no return either.
