WICHITA, Kan. Update 11:15 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, 2018

Wichita Police say a 16-year-old boy has died after he was shot during a robbery.

Police say around 2:45 p.m. on Friday, officers responded to a shooting at B & H Fast Trip in the 2700 block of south Seneca. Officers found the teen with a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital where he later died.

Investigators say the teen and three others entered the store, pointing handguns at the employee and customers, demanding money. During the robbery, an armed 42-year-old customer pulled out a firearm and fired multiple shots toward the suspects. That's when the 16-year-old was shot. The three other suspects left.

Police believe the robbery was connected to another robbery at a Family Dollar Store on south Woodlawn around 12:10 p.m. Friday.

An employee in the store said three suspects came into the store with handguns. They took money and cigarettes.

Anyone with information on the robberies should call police.

Update 3:40 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28, 2018

A lieutenant with the Wichita Police Department says an armed customer shot and critically injured a man identified as one of four armed robbery suspects at a convenience store in the 2700 block of South Seneca.

WPD Lt. Chris Halloran says about 2:45 p.m. Friday, police responded to several calls from the B&H Fast Trips convenience store in response to a reported robbery and shooting.

Halloran says a customer was in line making a purchase when four men came into the store and demanded money. He says the suspected thieves also robbed the customer who then pulled out a gun and shot at them.

The citizen shot one suspect and the other three fled, Holloran says. An ambulance took that suspect to a local hospital in critical condition.

Holloran says the three other suspects were last seen running east on 31st Street.

The customer who fired at the suspected thieves after being shot was not injured, Holloran says. Suspects did take the customer's wallet before the shooting. They also took cash from the store.

-----

One person is critically injured after a reported shooting in the 2700 block of South Seneca.

This may be connected with a report of an armed robbery at a convenience store.

On the scene, our crew spotted the heavy police presence and emergency vehicles outside the B&H Fast Trips convenience store at 2796 S. Seneca.

The Wichita Police Department and Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene.

Not good when the bad guys have your wallet and ID, and you just offed one of theirs. I’d be stacking sand bags in front of the living room windows...

“A 16y/o boy has died”.

“The teen and three others entered the store”.

“One of four armed burglary suspects”.

So was he on his way to choir practice, or commiting a felony?

How long before the media parades the dead criminals mother out to demand why her baby deserved to die as he wasn't hurting no one and then demands justice?

Boy? Teen? This piece of shit ceased to be either when he decided to engage in strongarm robbery. Let’s see if the “community” decides the shooter is a monster for daring to gun down the poor waif.

This is why you carry two wallets---one to give robbers, which should be a cheap one with some cash in it and NO ID, CREDIT CARDS, OR IDENTIFYING INFORMATION.

Sounds like a good idea but I have a hard enough time finding my one wallet, let alone a fake one. And which one should have the BMF on it?

Two wallets. I would never have thought of that. Since I don't carry a wallet, but I think I will from now on.

The article could have started "Armed 16 yo thief dies during robbery.", but what do I know.

Yeah, that sucks. As much of a pain as it might be I think I'd immediately move.

Wait. Just a goll darn minute. First and foremost, the now expired youth will be counted as a victim of gun violence. No other way to slice it. He daid, you read it in the news, he's only 16, they said it so it must be true.

I even wonder where he got the gun. And I wonder if his momma knows who his runnin' buddies were on is "part time job" on Saturday afternoons. Or if the media will ask her, which they should.

I would think many of us here think all the stop and rob artists should die. Yes a slow and lingering death. Prior to administering any pain meds, they should interogate him as to who they were and where they hung out (not where they live, because that could vary.

Is Kansas law such that the other three will be charged with murder when they are caught?

I’m not entirely sure, however I believe that is the case. What I am sure of is that if the shooting is found to be justified that is the end of it, legally. Kansas law protects a person who legally uses a firearm to defend themselves or others from any civil litigation that the deceased’s family or survivors may attempt to file.

What? No video of the subjects from the C Store? Pretty hard to help locate the suspects with the information given.
I'm sick and tired of this type of media "coverage".
