Exactly. My son is 27 yo, and I know his friends, girlfriend, her friends, etc. None of them watch traditional TV or pay attention to traditional news sources.

MSNBC is doing this for only one reason- they're absolutely dead in the water, failed miserably and are losing tons of money each month. The brand is 100% kaput, it is toxic to the masses, and they have no choice other than folding up the tent.

Here's a thought for the MSNOW team.
Consider packaging and marketing a streaming service and call it MSNOW+.
This will surely resonate with the Gen Z types who will gladly pay a monthly fee for the privilege.
Just like CNN+ worked out so well for team CNN.

CNN+ launched on March 29, 2022, and was shut down on April 28, 2022.

Name change means nothing. It’s just a different camouflage pattern. The significant part is that they had to change at all. That’s how badly they damaged their brand and credibility. A name change won’t remedy that.
