That close to $800 a week in unemployment was supposed to go to rent and utilities to prevent eviction.

I worry about the next generation of lawyers. They all seem to be in law school because they have an ax to grind.

Can't they just be satisfied doing wills and trusts?

No, because ‘Better call Jazzlynn’ just doesn’t have the same snap.

That's the thing about law school - there's why you go in, and there's what you actually do once you come out.

Hypothetically, she should be barred from practicing law if the allegations are true. Louisiana, like many states, has a good moral character and fitness requirement to practice law.

There's an argument to be made that someone who resorts to arson in order to express displeasure with the outcome of a legal matter isn't emotionally fit to represent others.

New Orleans court officials to shut down evictions in the city for failure to pay rent through the end of the year.

She didn't come under this order..

quote:
The order states that landlords “shall not evict any covered person from any residential property … during the effective period of the Order.” But renters need to take a proactive step to be protected: each individual on a lease must separately submit a sworn declaration directly to their landlord.

The declaration, which is available on the city of New Orleans website, says that lying, or leaving out information can be punished as perjury. However, it is not clear who would be responsible for determining such violations. By showing the landlord the declaration, a resident attests that:

They expect to make less than $99,000 this coming year, or less than $198,000 if filing jointly.
They have made “best efforts” to get “all available” governmental housing assistance.
They can’t pay full rent because they have lost income or faced “extraordinary medical expenses.”
They are making “best efforts” to pay as much of rent “as the individual’s circumstances may permit, taking into account other nondiscretionary expenses.”
If evicted would “likely” become homeless or be forced to move into a crowded living situation.

She would not be homeless. She also made criminal threats.

The CDC and the state was quick to issue this order...but gave no such exemption to the landlords for their taxes and other expenses which weren't going to stop.

Let me get this straight, gofu**me has said they don't allow use of their service for people who are charged with felonies as a reason for denying a fund for Rittenhouse?
Riiiiiighhht. Got it.

Maybe they should clarify, "we will not allow funds for conservatives, constitutionalists charged with crimes. But we will allow funds for liberals charged with crimes.

"Liberty lies in the hearts of men and women. When it dies there, no constitution, no law, no court can save it....While it lies there, it needs no constitution, no law, no court to save it"
- Judge Learned Hand, May 1944
