Bob is a good family friend, I grew up around him in our church community in MI. I have fond memories of his sense of humor Seem he is quite the celebrity in NC

Help! Help! I'm being repressed! |
I hope he makes it. I've been to the 68th, 70th, and 75th anniversaries. I have a great uncle that went into Omaha in the 3rd wave. He survived. He was in the 111th Field Artillery Bn, Battery B. He said only 3 of their guns made it ashore. All the other DUKWs were swamped and went to the bottom. I highly recommend an anniversary for a visit. The re-enactors are out in force and the locals roll out the red carpet for the veterans that are still able to go.

Awesome story, glad he's getting a the opportunity to go. It's the one place left in France that I'd like to visit as I've had pretty negative experiences on my previous visits. They seem to hate anyone not speaking French but would be be speaking German if it wasn't for people like Bob....
