I predict that self-inflicted Nunchuck injuries are going to go up
On a serious point, seems like this is expanding the 2A, which is good.

NEW YORK — A federal court says New York’s ban on nunchucks, the martial arts weapon made famous by Bruce Lee but prohibited in the state for decades, is unconstitutional under the Second Amendment.
Judge Pamela Chen issued her ruling Friday in federal court in Brooklyn.
The plaintiff, James Maloney, started his legal quest after being charged with possession of nunchucks in his home in 2000.
Maloney wants to teach a form of martial art using nunchucks that he created to his sons.
The state has completely banned private citizens from owning nunchucks, two rigid rods connected at one end by a chain or rope, since 1974.
The suit names the Nassau County district attorney as defendant. The county’s lawyer had no immediate comment.
Also illegal in CA unless they are at a school for learning how to use them. How that makes sense, I don’t know. A martial arts school can apparently have them and teach me how to use them, but I can’t have them away from the school.
Things like brass knuckles and throwing stars are also illegal, if I recall correctly.
Yay California. I’m safe from snipers with a 50bmg, ninjas with throwing stars, and gang members with brass knuckles!

Who knew. I grew up near Albany and had a friend bring his in for an oral presentation in middle school in the early 80s. I wonder what other illegal crap we had.

Nunchucks were far more evil in the eyes of stupid politicians before guns. Typical stupid leftist shit; they see movies with Bruce Lee killing/destroying stunt men with 2 sticks and rope, and they ban the things.
As a kid, I illegally had nunchucks. I still had a pair of oak ones hanging in my office in CA

I believe the drive to make them illegal is the self-inflicted wounds by bozos. Same for butterfly knives and even the samurai letter opener knives. I'm speaking regarding CA, of course. They were made illegal while I was growing up.
"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

If I remember correctly, most of these weapons were banned because they were the favorites of gangs and the idea was by banning the weapons they would eliminate the big gang fights.
In lieu of these weapons, they seem to have just switched to guns. Law of unintended consequences.

CA is strange. I believe that it's more illegal to be caught carrying nunchucks and ninja stars, than it is to be caught carring a firearm without a CCW.

^^^^ Only 15 posts till the defeatism shows up. Why not just take a 2A win without being negative? It does change something. It’s a move towards expanding the 2A to encompass more than just firearms, and solidify it as a right to self defense.
I bet the folks advocating for knife rights are a little more optimistic wrt this ruling.

Sounds good to me, the Second Amendment is about arms, not just guns, no matter how stupid those arms happen to be. And lets be real for a second, these wankers banned sticks tied together. You get right down to it, and that's helmet-wearing stupid.
