Ok,like it says I am looking for good grooming shears to groom my dog with. They will be used once a month for minor trimming and every two or three months for more detailed trim.

I'm looking for a set, 7" or 8", with straight shears, curved shears, chunker shears, and thinning shears. I would like to keep them under $200.00, with $80.00 to 100.00 being more of the target price.

I have a good pair of professional 5" straight shears, and they do well, but they were my sister's when she was a beautician and have been sharpened and adjusted many times and are getting close to seeing better days, plus the 8" will make getting straighter long lines.

My thinning shears are ok, but they are cheapies and don't hold an edge well. Plus the finger holes are a little on the small side.

I don't like taking her to a groomers as I like the natural look and groomers tend to cut to much off.

So, a good set of shears for occasional trimming, that are made for medium/large mans hands that I won't have to take a mortgage out to buy. Any ideas?

Following, almost posted the same thing. I don’t want to spend $75 every few weeks to get my new pup trimmed so I’m looking to do it myself.

Look online for Master Grooming shears - they come in different sizes and types.

I use a set of 8" straight shears and 44 tooth thinning shears for my Golden Retrievers.

They are a good quality, budget friendly option.

Do your self a favor and watch a few of the u-tuber[ My Favorite Groomer].
She is a little quirky but a damn great groomer.
She also promotes certain tools.
Now with that being said I have been grooming my poodles from the 1970's,thought I was pretty good using my barber tools from back when I was one.
That woman has cost me a few hundred dollars on better equipment and I am happy about it.

I use Andis electric groomer. They have several blades for different lengths. I use it to lengthen the time between I take them to the groomer. They're mini-poodles.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

I used an Andis with changeable blades. The added benefit is that now that I resemble Julius Ceaser follically, the andis now shaves my head.
