What does it mean when respect is "demanded" ?
I feel I'm only owed the respect I've earned. If someone doesn't recognize that well, it's not on me and I wouldn't care enough to try to correct them. The older I get the more I realize I require zero validation outside of my own head.
I find that in my professional world I can only control my words and deeds and have to practice the stoicism to let others do as they will. If I am doing a good job others will see me as a leader and follow my example. If not then I can only look at correcting my own actions until I get the results I want.
Demanding respect is foolish. Like having to tell someone you are the boss. If you have to tell someone you're in charge....you really aren't.
Just how I see it.
