And the new V6 engines are failing requiring replacement and from what I've read the claimed gas mileage isn't much better, if at all, than the outgoing V8 which was at least pretty bullet proof despite being a gas guzzler.

Switching to the V6 turbo had less to do with mileage/performance, and more about meeting emissions requirements. Sure you get better gas mileage, but the turbo V6 gets you the power demanded in that segment with reduced CO2 emissions.

5.7 Tundra: "I'm a gas guzzler."

6.8 F250: "Hold my beer..."

What’s better, a reliable gas guzzler, or a sipper that has weak reliability history? The other thing is use. If short range, towing & such, not worried about mileage.

I like a mix of vehicles, one for towing & firewood, another for the 10 mile trip to wallyworld.

Agreed. Heck. They're putting turbos on 3-cylinder engines just to mimic the output of a 4-cylinder in hopes emissions are reduced further.

Much of this is done to comply with Government regulations. A brake job, new tires & some maintenance doesn’t scare me. I’ve been going back a few years with vehicles.

I am looking forward to this and in 2 years it will likely be me buying this or a Rivian R2 used of course.
There is a lot of EV hate and if it does not fit your needs no big deal.

I want a simple (still waiting but this is likely the closest so far) EV that gets more than 300 miles estimated. 350 would be nice but 330 for the Highlander will do.
I do tons of trips to Cincy, Louisville, and my Cabin almost to Tennessee all are about 110 miles from my home. I need to be able to get there, do a little driving around and get back in any weather, and traffic jams on a single charge.
Also move at least 5 people and some stuff.

It costs me $50 in my Tundra for those trips it would cost me under $10 charging at home.

I just wish they would get rid of all these stupid LED light bars and strips. These lights are thousands of dollars.
I don’t want a big glass roof everyone seems to be doing, these electric popping doors, crazy big screens everywhere, a bazillion cameras.
All this stuff just costs extra money and is prone to breaking.

We have my wife’s Navigator for our big trips and I’ll still have my Tundra for when I need a truck.

The BZ Woodland would not be too bad but the range is not there for me.

From your post in my other thread, I was tempted, just not ready to make the jump to EV yet.

Might make a decent option for my oldest when she gets her license next year. Good for local running and to/from school.

The one in Conroe? I saw that. It’s a good deal but that stealer is known for shenanigans (dealer add ons and bs).

Yeah, that's the one.
Keating bought out the chevrolet dealer where I worked in College. Don't know much about them as a dealer group, other than them starting with 1 Chevrolet store in a tiny town between Houston & Beaumont.

We've had excellent reliability with our 2019 Highlander hybrid, which is very close to having 100,000 miles on it. It's going to our daughter soon who is needing a vehicle for her last year of college while doing an internship. We've got a 2026 Grand Highlander hybrid max platinum on order.

EV Highlander in the mountains in cold weather? Be sure to bring your space blankets to keep warm after the battery goes dead.

Plenty of used EV's at decent prices, you can get a Tesla 3 Long Range 300+ miles with 37K miles for around $20K on Carvana. For a commuter they are a great option, especially with the Iran oil prices going up.

Equinox EV's around the same price, and in some cases you might find a brand new 25/26 1LT with the factory rebates and deals in your $20K price point, which means 8 year warranty on battery, 319 miles of Range...

Here's a 1LT with MSRP of $37K now priced at $24K, brand new car vs driving used.
