1954 birth year here, been at the “old” inflection point for awhile. Having made it through the sixties/seventies/eighties, I used to say I’ve seen it all….but no, not now.

I can hardly begin to summarize and contrast where and how things were to the current state of affairs.

I was already 10 in 1950, when my Dad let me take my new Marlin rifle, and ride to Paintsville, Ky., on a Greyhound bus, so he could show me how to hunt on BlackBerry Hill. Grandad ran Southern Bell’s Central Office in town, had the old rotary
phones at the house...

I do actually. I don't remember where I got it and it was fairly recent. My daughter loves it so I gave it to her.

Born in 1940, in 1950 the things we were able to do then will never occur again in this country. eg: my cousin and I carrying our .22 rifles through town to pick up a box of .22s at hdw store then on to the dump to shoot rats, lol.

Same for me. Never considered actually being retired with no job to go to and there are days when it gets a bit boring and the weather doesn't inspire a nice long walk.

I've stopped counting.
