Android Shutting Down My App
I have an app on my Android phone that I like to keep open all the time, and for some reason, Android keeps shutting it down several times a day, which means I have to log back into it several times a day.

Any suggestions as to how I can keep Android from shutting it down to free up memory?

I use Android Assistant that I use to shut down other apps that I'm not using. I've got 6GB of memory free and 419GB of storage available, so I know it's not a problem with either of those. I think Android just tries to be hyper-vigilant and shuts down background apps.

But I also think there's got to be a way to prevent this for an app.

1. Press and hold on the app shortcut until the window pops up

2. Click the "circled i" button in the top right to go to App Info

3. Click Battery

4. Set to Unrestricted

Are you certain it's the Android OS that's shutting it down and not the app, itself, timing-out due to inactivity?

The OS arbitrarily choosing to shut down apps would be kind of weird.

It's an Android OS behavior to stop programs running the background from eating into battery life. Even if you do leave the program open in the background, it'll stop updated until you select it again and refresh itself unless you do what Rogue mentioned by telling Android to let it run regardless. It doesn't happen immediately, but after a set amount of time, that background app will be shut down until you interact with it again.

The battery use is already set to unrestricted. And yes, I'm sure Android is shutting down the app.

Well, it appears it WAS my app. I found another app that, at this point, seems to be working better and not shutting down.

Thanks for the help!
