The Nest 2nd Gen finally failed, got a replacement lithium battery but that didn't solve the problem.<BR><BR>So looking at replacement options and down to the Ecobee and Nest 3rd Gen.<BR><BR>Ecobee is a better price and comes with two remote sensors.<BR><BR>Nest is familiar, and the base for it is already mounted so zero paint/wall repair or new mounting holes.Thermostat Options:Nest 3rd Gen LearningEcobee Smart ThermostatOther -Please explain why

I had an early Nest and now have Ecobee and prefer the Ecobee. I like the remote sensors.

I just put in an ecobee. We also had a step down from the smart model in our old house.
Happy with it so far.

We have 3 ecobee’s at home and one in the cabin. Pretty happy with them overall.

We have 3 Nests in our home. We bought them at Costco and they each came with remote sensors. This the second house we have had these installed. Super easy setup. Setup one and bring the next one close and it sets up automatically.

Never wanted the learning part of Nest, had been a huge Honeywell fan.
New construction has two Ecobee units and we really like them.

I use Ecobee also. Sensors aren’t cheap but the new ones batteries last a hell of alot longer than the older sensors.

Other. We have our security system on the Alarm.Com platform and use the T3000 thermostat. Love it.

I want to avoid anything "smart" - I don't want a smart washer and dryer, refrigerator, doorbell, toilet, etc...
why the hell do the washers and dryers have internet connections? last time I bought one I had to search to find one without it

My Nest also bit the dust. Switched to the Ecobee and like the integration with HomeKit better.

Easy setup and install without issues.

Agree. After what happened in Texas a couple of years ago, we only have our Moen Flo connected to the net.

My vote is for the Nest. I have the thermostat and two Nest cameras and they all work great, one app makes it nice.

I voted other for the same reasons as couple above....I do not need or want anything accessible by anyone other than me. The potential convenience is not worth the potential risk.

I have a slightly used Nest you can have, it wouldn't stay connected to the wifes app, bought a second one after the return time had expired. Couldn't get that one to work correctly either, don't know why

I replaced it with the Sensi after doing a lot of research, it's been perfect

I have Honeywell smart thermostats.

They do everything the nest and ecobee do.

The T-9 has room sensors you can place in other rooms.

They can work with both my gas boiler and with an added adapter my mini splits

The $99 from Home Depot Honeywell smart thermostat has done well for me for at least 4 years.

About all the devices connected to the web, nope too. Almost sent a new Shark robo vac back until I was sure it could be used without a web connection.

“Interesting” thing, if my internet connection goes down the identifier for my a shark comes up as an available connection on the list of networks to join. Does this mean that there’s a router inside of it?

Received the Nest from BigSwede yesterday afternoon late.

Will give it a shot hopefully this evening on the install and see if it works.

I'll second the Honeywell models. I ended up with 3 different models. Upgraded at different times. They were cheaper than Nest/Ecobee. Like the app. Have extra sensors in the kid's bedrooms upstairs. I can set the priority of temp for those rooms. Also get a weekly usage report by thermostat. I do get an email request to let the power company control it for emergencies. Delete. Other than that, I'm happy. Being able to control the temp by phone from my bed is worth it.
