Seafood Tower in Miami Beach Florida Login/Join

About 15 years ago, I was in Miami Beach on a business trip. I was with some other people from out of town. We were driving near the beach. On one street I saw several restaurants that had samples of what I was told were Seafood Towers. They all looked good. I did not get the names of any of the restaurants. I will be in Miami in a few weeks and would like to find out where these restaurants are? Does anyone have any knowledge or suggestions about these places?

Joe's Stone Crab is down there and while I have not been, I have heard from others it is very good.

However, have you priced a seafood tower lately? I hope you have an expense account.

Here's a recent review of top 10. Surprised these haven't gotten more expensive than they are but you're still looking at $90-$400 depending on how far over the top.

Those presentations in the above link certainly look delicious, but is one person expected to eat all that? When the price is divided among several diners, it does not seem so extravagant.

Not that I expect to be there any time soon, butthis would be high on my list of things to do in Miami.

Been 18 years since I have been to Joe’s but it was absolutely amazing. Not only the seafood but the key lime pie.

Joe's is a tourist trap and a place to be seen.

^^^^^If I’m down there in that zoo, and as long as someone else is paying for it, and they are, I could give a damn if it’s a tourist trap. And I don’t give a damn about being seen either.
But I usually get my stone crabs at Joe Patti’s and have them at home.

Joe’s is genuinely very good, usually. They had some quality issues last year. Not sure how they’re doing this year. My mother is down visiting, so I’m sure we will go.

(It was my father’s favorite restaurant.)

Lidos on the Bay has a great view, surprisingly good food, and poor service.

(Miami has very few places which actually have good food. Much better food, in general, around Boca, etc)

I like my stone crab claws hot and with melted butter, not cold with mustard sauce.
To each his own!
There is a casual place in Everglades City that serves stone crabs, called City Seafood. Highly recommended!

^^^^^The first stone crabs I ever had were at The Rod and Gun Club in Everglades city on the opening day of stone crab season. I was spoiled forever.
