Anybody use them?

Weighing my options with the multitude of Fix-It Stick tool kits or, going with the Wheeler Digital FAT wrench.

I have both but use the “sticks” more often; they are smallish, lightweight and live in my range bag.

I don't have the torque stuff, but I just got their Glock front sight tool, and used it today. It worked great, and even has an integrated magnet to retain that tiny screw. Best of all, it was only $10...about half the price of the other options on Midway. I've been wanting to try their torque drivers, and I've had it in the cart a few times, just haven't been able to stomach the price.

I also have both, but use the Fix-its more often as I find them easier to use!

I've got the Wheeler and much prefer having an adjustable one vs multiples at different weights. Then again, the only time I use one is when I'm putting an RDS onto a handgun so it mostly isn't used.

I have a Fix It Stick kit. Mainly for easy carry and as a part of my range gear. Quality stuff.

I don’t have any, but a few of the guys I shoot with all the time do.

Im always using theirs! Pretty convenient- especially the larger kits if you’re playing around with different weapons.

One of these days, which is probably going to be soon, I gotta get a kit or two.
The bad thing is, and which is why I’m reluctant, is that I have a range cleaning kit. It’s got 99% of what I need- allen, torx, screwdrivers, cleaning rods, handles, different brushes, bore brushes…
So I would be replacing what I already have.

Yes. I have a kit with the torque attachment. I also added an extra bit or two that I needed but didnt come with the set. I have everything (bits/drivers) I need for all platforms in that kit.

Carry a small pack in my range bag, it’s saved me more than once. And a ShooBoy hammer. Although I did add a thinner blade screwdriver bit because the one in the kit doesn’t fit some grip screws

I use mine more than my FAT wrench. Like the others have said, it’s just so easy to use.

There are Fix It Stick torque limiters that cover a range of settings; they’re not all fixed at just one setting. I still prefer to use the fixed drivers because I don’t have to think much about using them. Wink

I have many other torque limiters, but I have a Fix It set in my range bag, and I have a 4 inch-pound limiter close at hand in my work room with the proper bits for resetting the windage and elevation turrets of several scopes that I seem to do frequently. I don’t use the range set very often, but when I do, it’s usually important to have.

I consider manufacturer-recommended torque settings and good, inexpensive torque limiters to have been one of the great gunsmithing advancements in my lifetime. I still remember, “Tighten it enough, but not too much,” being the only guidance we received, and how something that didn’t seem like too much dented the tube of an old Weaver scope.

I'd add to that replacing slotted screws with Torx. I have a Wiha TorqueVario driver that I like for scope mounting.

I was going to use them but could not find them wholesale. I just tried Borka and am pleased with their kit. The torque limiters are nice to have, I bought the ones for Nightforce zero stop screws.

Which kit are you using that you ended up augmenting to?

They were the other consideration but they're a bit spendier than the FixIts.

Amen to that.

I was reminded of the inconvenience of dealing with slotted screw heads just yesterday as I decided to remount an ancient Redfield 3200 scope on my Winchester target rifle. The scope rings I had to fit the proprietary mounting blocks on the rifle of course had four slotted screws each, one of which shows the results of a screwdriver blade having slipped out of the slot decades ago. The experience of dealing with screws that I have mostly put behind me these days actually prompted me to see if there were any modern rings that would fit the mounting blocks. Nope, but hopefully I've got the scope mounted in the rings well enough that it will never have to come out again.

I generally avoid buying sets, as I think that they are either incomplete and/or overpriced.
I use their torque wrench and an additional one from Topeak, basically, the same idea but graduated in Nm (2-6).
I completed my own sets of bits: imperial and metric hex, torx, flat and a couple odd and ends.
Instead of "stix" I've opted for a ratchet wrench from Prestacycle, which can be used as a T-handle. I've also added a couple of modular bit holders that have 1/4" square end for use with spanners and a regular short bit handle. It all fits in a small pocket organizer (actually two small organizers, because I carry all kind of crap with me Big Grin ) and it's a part of my EDC.

I bought a complete kit and then some things to round out perceived gaps. It always rides in my gun case and while it was expensive I think it was worth it. I would buy again.
