Currently I use a Walther PPS M2 as my daily carry. I switched from a P238 because I wanted something more substantial than a .380. I chose the PPS because other compact 9’s rub my middle finger raw at the front strap/trigger guard junction. I’ve chosen appendix carry because carrying on or behind my hip does not work well for me. Carrying at work is not allowed and an appendix holster is easy to put on and remove. Walther has dropped production of the PPS and is discounting magazines to get rid of them. It’s the P225/P6 story over again. They also dropped the PPQ shortly after I bought it to promote the giant sawtooth PDP. I’m seriously considering switching to a Colt defender for my daily driver. The capacity will be similar to my PPS but in my lifetime I’m never going to have an issue with parts or support. Every sight on the planet is available for it, I can have the front strap checkered, it’s available in 9 or 45, the list goes on. I’m getting tired of investing in a platform and then having it go away.

Well, go with Glock. Multiple frame sizes and the Lego set of handguns. For bag carry, I do the G26. OWB is G19. Out in the woods is G20. In summer I also OWB/IWB the light and flat G48. Aint none of these likely to lose support anytime soon and there is always a large aftermarket to fall back on. End of Earth: 2 Miles Upper Peninsula: 4 Miles

Most of those are a bit large for appendix. Others that hurt include the 365, and Hellcat. I honestly can’t recall if the Shield rubbed my finger too much. Excellent grip though.

Several, from a Kel-Tec P3AT, Sig P238, Sig P239, Ruger LCR 38, Glock 43, Now a Ruger LCP Max 380, Very light and thin, 10+1 capacity, easily fits in my pocket, or you could carry appendix and it would conceal nicely. They make one in 9mm but for me the lighter weight and size of the 380 Max make it perfect for shorts and concealing. Ruger has 9 different LCP 380 models from bare bones to having a dot mounted from the factory. I think S&W has the Bodyguard 2.0 and over 30 different iterations including a cool Moo colored version. What I carry varies with mood/season. At the moment, my M&P .45 in a Kydex retention holster gets the call. IMHO, it's a great compromise between power and light weight. 1 spare magazine in a horizontal belt pouch. Other options are a Glock 19 and a spare mag in a vertical pouch which is more rounds on hand but heavier, or a S&W 66 snubbie and one extra speed strip which is handy for concealing under light clothing but fewer rounds. HRK, I still keep my P238 for Bantamweight carry. I have no complaints, it is 100% reliable. I really do enjoy that one. I just decided that especially for winter around here, 9mm or better would be a better choice.

PHPaul I probably should revisit that M&P. I can’t recall if it hurt my finger but it did check most of the boxes. Plus it’s available in 45 as an option which is always nice. No Defender fans?

Just once Went from my first CCW, a Keltec P11 to a Sig P320 [which has gone 9mm, 357Sig, 9mm]. Still my EDC. My dad has carried his 40SW P239 since 1996 The Enemy's gate is down.

An obvious option would be to just buy up all the magazines I can for my PPS and stop crying. I could buy a lot of mags for the price of another platform. Then again, PHPaul has me thinking hard about that M&P again. Lord knows around here we love blaming Paul for opening our wallets.

When I started my career, my off duty was a G26 in a OWB holster. Once the G43 came out, I made the switch, but was never comfortable with a IWB carry. I did, however, carry a LCP/LCPII IWB or belly band on occasion (exercise or formal suit). I switched to the P365 in 2019 because it felt so much nicer in hand and on the range, the added capacity was nice too. A couple of years ago I switched to pocket carrying the P365 and can't imagine going back to hip carry. I also carry a Bodyguard 2.0 around the house/neighborhood (pocket/band), which took the place of my LCPII. _____________________________________ P220, P225, P226, P228, P229 Legion, P230, P230SL, P239, 38H, P365, P365 faux Legion, M17X, M17 Full, M18, P210 Standard, P210 Carry Custom Works, SP2022

Yep. A few times. Was Sig P239/P229 for nearly 20 years but I got tired of carrying around bricks. Went through testing of various platforms until I settled on my 2 carry platforms. Beretta PX4’s and HK P30’s. So many CCW’s were tried, tested, shot, and heavily evaluated. I think it’s natural for some change over the years. Tried to make myself like strikers and I just continue to be an old curmudgeon and still EDC DA/SA. If I had to I would just go revolver 24/7.This message has been edited. Sig 239, Glock 19, Glock 43. It depends on where I am going to carry that decides what I am going to carry.

Like many, depending upon season and activity. My general go to town daily is a G30 (45 ACP) held IWB at the four oclock in a Hidden Hybrid. My hiking, fishing, and work around the house is a SW 629 (44mag) hosted in a Simply Rugged chest rig — not going to lie, my favorite. In either case, if I run out of boolits, I can just throw the damn thing as a last act of desperation! Godspeed and Good Hunting, Always Navy BMD: When "Aim High" isn't High Enough!

Years ago (prior to 2015) I had a Ruger Blackhawk in .45 Colt to complement my Henry Lever in the same caliber. When I was scraping together the downpayment on the Cabota, both got sold along with a handful of other firearms. I still have a raft of .45 Colt hand loads which I can't sell/give away for liability reasons. It seems to me that the logical thing to do is replace that Blackhawk. Now I just need to come up with about $600. Point being, you are not the only one PHPaul talks into spending money... Be careful when following the masses. Sometimes the M is silent.

Guns go in and out of production all the time, they don’t however have a shelf life. If you are happy with PPS, buy extra magazines and maybe an RSA or two and use it till it breaks (if it ever does). If that happens decide on a new platform then. I have plenty of guns no longer supported and I can’t think of one I wouldn’t carry. Hell my go to platform is now discontinued. As far as the PPS goes I have an M1 (with plenty of mags) I’d happily carry. Heck PPS’s were so cheap last I saw, buy another one as a “parts/backup gun” Take Care, Shoot Safe, Chris
