Ummm, yeah, they tried that -> shipped to vacant house, F'd up the address spelling and the Post Office delivered it to the woman's new address.
It's all right there in the OP.

If criminals weren't dumber than mud there wouldn't be a jail overcrowding problem. Seems like most times they are begging to get busted.

just because they were counterfeit doesn't mean they weren't powerful drugs

Federal prosecutors this week filed charges against an alleged smuggler caught at the California-Mexico border with nearly 1,200 fake oxycodone pills, the latest sign that Mexican drug cartels are targeting pain patients in the U.S.

The pills were made with illicit fentanyl, a synthetic opioid that is 50 to 100 times more potent than morphine and can be lethal in very small doses. Counterfeit fentanyl pills are blamed for 11 deaths and dozens of overdoses in recent weeks in the Sacramento area, where they were disguised to look like Norco pain medication. Some of the victims were patients who sought painkillers on the street because they couldn’t obtain them legally.

Fake oxycodone, Percocet and Xanax pills have also been appearing in Florida, where they are blamed for at least one death.

I posted before that I had to deal with a family member who was an addict. Oxycodone a few years ago sold on the street for $1 a mg.

A single 30 mg tablet was $30.

We must have a drug delivery Santa Clause on the East Coast.

North Carolina homeowners were shocked to find nearly $30,000 in marijuana inside a package that was delivered at their doorstep.

The box, delivered Wednesday to a home in Charlotte, contained 15 1-pound bricks of marijuana, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said.

According to WSOC 9, it’s the second time a package filled with drugs is dropped off at an unsuspecting home in the area in just one week.

Investigators in York County said a Rock Hill woman expecting a yoga mat received a box overfilling with oxycodone pills on Saturday. The box contained more than 20,000 pills worth nearly $400,000.

Officials say both cases are still open.

Marvin Brown, commander of the York County Multi-Jurisdictional Drug Enforcement Unit, told WSOC 9 that mail delivery of illegal drugs has become more prevalent in the drug trade.

Traffickers are using fake or wrong addresses and names and then waiting for the packages to be delivered there.

Thankfully, the Prince Georges County, MD Sheriff's office wasn't involved.

Had they been, there'd be dead dogs all over the mid-Atlantic.
