What's the absolute best reason to NOT carry a single form of I.D. as an adult?
Twice in the last week I witnessed two adults
tell people that they don't have any form of i.d. and can not get one.

Both were in retail establishments, both got pissy with the employee, both, asked for the store managers.

Both managers caved and did whatever the customers wanted

How does that make you some kind of special ?

Neither cared what the seven people around them thought about their rude, obnoxious and " street wise" language and actions, both seemed proud to make a lousy impression.

They are the few that make many others want to
discriminate .

That's why they're not carrying it, they don't need it, the managers caved to them.

It would depend on the reason for needing it. I have more than twice told a cashier that they could pound sand about an ID when I was buying a six pack. I'm in my sixties, I was paying cash. We have a couple local convenience stores that won't sell you alcohol without SCANNING your ID. They can piss up a rope.

Likewise I've played that game at a local post office. Got to show an ID when paying by credit card. I can buy the same stamps from my home PC or phone without an ID and since they are running my chip card they have zero liability.

Unless you are a cop and are detaining me, I have no legal need to "show you my papers". I detest stupid ass rules for "risk management" purposes and will opt to go where they hire employees smart enough to figure out I'm over 30.

Neither case involved booze or cigerettes or drugs.

People wonder how or why they get stereotyped , I wish I had been wearing a body cam.

Because I don't need to! However, understand that you may not meet some vendors/people/law enforcement requirements and may suffer the consequences.

Where I work, either produce an ID or take a walk! (Gov't office)

If you ever watched Cops or Live PD you would know that literally no one ever stopped by a cop has a license or any identification on them! Smile

No legal requirement to carry it.

One of the cool things about being in the US as a citizen is not having to prove who you are or that you belong.

And that’s the beauty of capitalism.

Larger retail establishments collect data and create direct marketing from the source - you and your id. offering discounts to get them, etc., and to keep coming back. Likewise, retailers are now telling customers to pound sand when id’s are not given. It’ll boil down to how badly do you want something and are you willing to travel further to get it.

I love America!!!

I can think of no reason to not have an ID of some kind. Even Sigmund Freud had an ID. Razz

So could a company that provides either goods or services in exchange for money

Like Costco, Sam's or Bob's Hot Dog heaven club.

Put in their agreement that i.d.'s are required for all transactions ?

This has been posted in the past, but it's good enough to repeat:

Redneck: "'Bout whut?"

They are correct if they were born in a barn or back seat and lived off grid.

Somehow doubt it.

Always something on somebody to ID.

Boy, a nickel for every time I heard a suspect say "These ain't my pants!"

And once, one glorious time, "This ain't my bra!" Yeah, well, it was holding your tits when the meth fell out, so guess what?
